About the Company

Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation (GCMD)

The Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation was established as a non‑profit organisation in August 2021 following the recommendation of the International Advisory Panel for Maritime Decarbonisation in 2020. The mission of this centre is to help the maritime industry eliminate its greenhouse gas emissions by shaping standards, deploying solutions, financing projects and fostering collaboration across sectors.

This centre is strategically located in Singapore, the world’s largest maritime bunkering hub and second largest transhipment container port, and will coordinate regional and global decarbonisation efforts. The centre has so far raised S$155 million from the Singapore government and the private sector to support its work.

Responsibilities

The Director of Project Analytics is a member of the Research & Projects team and leads the project analytics effort for the Research & Projects team across multiple initiatives. The position reports to the Chief Technology Officer and works closely with the Directors of Research & Projects across the life of the projects.

Project Ideation
  • Co-ideate projects with the Directors of Research & Projects emphasising on the required data and information and potential analytics to achieve project objectives and deliver insights and impact
  • Support the Directors of Research & Projects to develop project whitepapers to be submitted to the CEO and / or GCMD board for project approval; activities include tech scans, market research, standards scan, policy intelligence, etc.
  • Co-develop data and information gathering framework with the Directors of Research & Projects to assist the project managers in data / information gathering from project‑relevant stakeholders
Project Assessment
  • Support the Directors of Research & Projects to evaluate project proposals
  • Lead the project analytics team to support the project execution teams in data and information analytics; and to support when required, the Director of Research and Projects to finalise project reports
External Engagement
  • Engage with industry, institutes of higher learning and knowledge centres to keep abreast with developments
  • Represent GCMD at external functions and events
  • Support senior management engagements with potential partners of the centre
  • Work with communications team to help develop talking points for external presentations by GCMD senior management when required; contribute to the technical writeups of marketing collaterals and other centre publications

The position will also from time to time manage interns who will be additional resource for executing the above mentioned responsibilities.

Job Requirement Qualifications, Skills, Experience
  • Minimum master’s degree from a recognised University in engineering, science, maritime studies, economics
  • Minimum 10 years working experience with the maritime or energy sector
  • Good understanding on maritime decarbonisation related issues, co‑authorship of reports and or opinion pieces on maritime decarbonisation solutions will be considered advantageous
  • Strong command of the English language and writing skills
  • Passionate about sustainability and maritime decarbonisation
  • Team player, highly motivated, ability to work independently and confidently under pressure
