About the Role:

Grade Level (for internal use): 13

The Corporate, Infrastructure & Financial Services Methodologies team is responsible for the development of analytical frameworks used by rating analysts globally. As a Director, you will take an enterprise‑wide perspective, ensuring that current operational activity is connected to the wider strategic vision of S&P Global.

The Impact

The CSME will report to the Head of Corporates, Infrastructure, & Financial Services Methodologies and will be part of a team responsible for delivering strategic direction and developing criteria. The goal is to provide best‑in‑class criteria and model frameworks recognized by internal and external stakeholders. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that work delivered fits into the broader strategy, leverages networks across functions and geographies, and incorporates diverse perspectives to foster innovation and sustainability.

Responsibilities
Criteria Stewardship & Development
  • Systematically assess whether criteria remain fit for purpose by reviewing reports on ratings performance, calibration, timeliness of risks addressed, timeliness of data, emerging factors or market trends.
  • Take an enterprise perspective by connecting criteria development to broader strategic goals and monitoring external trends to inform models and updates.
  • Lead cross‑functional teams to propose updates to criteria, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and stakeholder expectations.
  • Propose updates to criteria as necessary, either via nonmaterial or material changes.
  • Incorporate diverse perspectives from across functions and geographies to drive consensus and strategic alignment.
Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain relationships with key internal analytical stakeholders: Sector Leads, Analytical Managers, AOCCs, and relevant MSMEs.
  • Leverage your network at senior leadership levels to ensure buy‑in and quality standards are met.
  • Engage key stakeholders across different groups globally to ensure successful execution.
  • Collaborate beyond your immediate area to unlock issues and agree on solutions, fostering a culture of trust and inclusivity.
Criteria Application & Training
  • Assist practices with the application of criteria, constantly assess understanding levels, and provide or co‑lead targeted criteria training as necessary.
  • Address practice questions and stay on top of external criteria comments.
  • Act as an escalation point and coach others on complex matters, empowering team members to maximize performance.
Thought Leadership & Market Trends
  • Identify and participate in thought leadership publications, including for sectors where we have no ratings outstanding.
  • Stay on top of trends, risks and developments, including emerging risks and themes, climate, defi, cyber, supply chain, and AI.
  • Use in‑depth professional knowledge to monitor external trends and develop innovative, data‑driven solutions with a long‑term perspective.
Project & Operational Management
  • Proactively drive the efficient execution of assigned projects, establish project plans and timelines, including planning and estimating resources necessary for completion.
  • Calibrate criteria to support consistency of ratings and credit stability.
  • Ensure model architecture and operational implications are carefully thought through and coordinated to allow the business to conduct high‑quality analytics efficiently.
  • Plan and manage competing priorities and resources, adapting as required to deliver on strategic initiatives.
Executive Communication & Compliance
  • Conduct executive level presentations, including to the Criteria & Model Governance Committee and the Board of Managers.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, including interviews with examiners, where applicable.
  • Adapt communication style to different audiences, ensuring complex information is conveyed clearly and persuasively.
What We’re Looking For
  • An S&P Global Employee in a similar position normally comes with 12+ years of experience in financial services.
  • Expertise in Corporate, Infrastructure and Project Finance Criteria and Models is highly preferred.
  • Very strong relationship‑building skills with the ability to collaborate and influence across diverse stakeholder groups at all levels, including senior analytical leaders.
  • Capability to understand market needs and to balance analytical excellence with feasibility of implementation and application.
  • Outstanding project and organization management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Problem solving and logical thinking.
  • Exceptional skills in presenting complex ideas to executive‑level audiences, including the Criteria & Model Governance Committee and the Board of Managers.
  • Willing to challenge the status quo and think creatively – the capacity to challenge views, processes, and behaviors, especially in complex areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect operational activities to the wider vision, monitor external trends, and leverage networks for strategic alignment.
