Your day at NTT DATA

The Director, Enterprise Architecture is a leadership role, responsible for proactively leading an Enterprise Architecture team and ensures the provision of enterprise business application, process and technical expertise through practically applying existing, new and emerging technologies to new and evolving business and operating models.

This role is responsible for ensuring the management of pre‑sales technical activities and support to Sales teams during presentations and demonstrations of company products and services, particularly Managed Services/Services offerings.

This leadership role establishes and maintains lines of communication with design engineering on issues such as considerations for product reliability and works with internal business stakeholders to define new products and services.

Key responsibilities
  • May participate with the sales team in proactively driving the presales process with clients. This may include conducting meetings, writing proposals, proposing solutions, and delivering presentations. Leads the evolution of the Enterprise Architecture (EA) function.
  • Contributes to the vision, goals, and measures of success for the Enterprise Architecture function, recognizing the current team maturity and skills of the team members.
  • Supports Enterprise Architects with large complex solution design with clients and lead/support the internal service and technical teams to enable business outcome and requirements mapping.
  • Integrates services, processes, applications, data, technology through a design process across multiple domains, delivery units, or geography.
  • Interfaces between business stakeholders assigned to client account to develop an integrated solution strategy.
  • Shares best practices, lessons learned and constantly updates the enterprise architecture based on changing technologies, and knowledge related to recent, current, and upcoming vendor products and solutions.
  • Coaches/mentors and provides leadership to engage with other team members and acts as advisor and decision‑maker in solution design situations.
  • Interprets, influences, and develops IT strategies, as well as implements the execution of the strategies.
  • Provides advice for the Managed Services/Services strategy, innovation, operations, architecture and infrastructure required to deliver efficient and effective platforms fundamental to business success and client satisfaction.
  • Defines architectural principles and applies them to influence architectural outcomes and guide governance.
  • Creates, refines, and oversees the execution of the processes of the Enterprise Architecture function, including documenting processes, building support for points of interaction, and ensuring the deliverables match the expectations and timing needed by partners and stakeholders.
  • Contributes to the management of large application and technology portfolios, using frameworks, lifecycle, and various other models and tools.
  • Recommends and participates in the analysis, evaluation, and development of enterprise long‑term strategic and operating plans to ensure that the Enterprise Architecture objectives are consistent with the business’ long‑term business objectives.
  • Provides timely and high‑quality reports and briefings on architecture roadmap, strategic initiatives and architecture metrics to executive leadership.
To thrive in this role, you need to have
  • Significant knowledge of the methods and processes of an appropriate Enterprise Architecture framework, for example, TOGAF.
  • Significant knowledge across Enterprise Architecture, Managed Services, Service Management Consulting, and multiple solutions areas (Business Units), and across domains, delivery units, and geographies.
  • Significant understanding of how technology solutions are influenced and affected by various business scenarios.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Significant demonstrable systems thinking, and strategic thinking skills coupled with the ability to capture the key elements of a system into a simple abstraction that empowers good decisions.
  • Significant business financial skills, coupled with the demonstrable ability to perform a cost‑benefit analysis and manage the budget of a team.
  • Significant business negotiation, influencing and conflict resolution sills.
  • Significant demonstrable leadership in Portfolio Management, Project Management, and Enterprise Change Management.
  • Significant knowledge of infrastructure strategies including Infrastructure‑as‑a‑Service, Platform‑as‑a‑Service, security, network, compute and storage, etc.
  • Excellent ability to translate complex technical terminology, concepts, and issues in terms understandable to technical and non‑technical management and staff.
  • Political savvy plus the significant knowledge of industry best practices for architectural governance of cloud, Agile, DevSecOps, etc.
  • Significant knowledge of core Managed Service Portfolio offer artefacts, techniques, demos, tools and deliverables.
  • Significant vertical knowledge of the required industry.
  • Significant understanding of the vast range of IT Service Management and operations.
Academic qualifications and certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Information Technology or Engineering or Computer Science or related field.
  • Certification and expert knowledge of Enterprise Architecture methodologies (such as, TOGAF, Zachman, SOA); preference in TOGAF, additional SOA will be considered as an asset.
  • Certification and expert knowledge of IT Service Management methodologies (ITIL, COBIT, etc.).
  • Scaled Agile certification advantageous.
Required experience
  • Significant technical leadership experience in an enterprise environment, managing people, processes, and budgets to achieve corporate and divisional objectives.
  • Significant experience with and understanding of the deliverables and value proposition of Enterprise Architecture.
  • Significant client engagement and consulting experience coupled with substantial experience in change management and the ability to recognize opportunities for future business.
  • Significant experience in integrating the solution for the project with the business domain, enterprise concerns, industry standards, established patterns, and best practices
  • Significant strategic, business development and pre‑sales experience.
  • Significant experience of IT industry environment and business needs, combined with substantial experience in business processes, applications, and infrastructure architecture.
  • Significant experience as a people and resource leader.
  • Significant experience in coordinating the design and implementation of new delivery models in a significant globally federated delivery organization.
