Job summary

A creative organization in Singapore is seeking a research assistant to support exhibitions, publications, and collections development in the curatorial field. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Art History or related fields, excellent organizational skills, and a keen interest in Asian cultures, particularly Islamic art. Key Highlights

  • Be a part of research, exhibitions, and collections development, while gaining hands‑on experience in the curatorial field
Key Responsibilities
Research
  • Conduct research and compile content for exhibitions and acquisitions using primary and secondary sources.
  • Assist in editing manuscripts, preparing bibliographies, captions, image/multimedia orders, and footnotes.
Exhibitions, Publications, and Media
  • Support administrative tasks such as compiling artefact lists, archiving photographs, and filing documentation.
  • Assist in organising lecture programmes.
  • Contribute to publications and media content, including research, writing, sourcing assets (e.g., images, footage, audio), and handling copyright clearances.
Collections Development
  • Help curators with acquisitions, including loans, purchases, and donations. Prepare necessary documentation and acquisition justification forms.
  • Assist in cataloguing collections.
Additional Duties
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by management.
Key Requirements
  • Degree in Art History, History, Anthropology, Museum Studies, Regional Studies (Asia), or related fields.
  • A keen interest in Asian cultures and history, particularly in Islamic art and world cultures, is advantageous.
  • Excellent organisational, project management, and communication skills.
  • Capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and research skills in English. Proficiency in reading Arabic script is a plus.
