Job Purpose
The Communications Manager will lead the development and implementation of an integrated communication and partnerships strategy for MSF Singapore. The role aims to maximize audience engagement through digital channels (Owned channels and paid reach), strengthen MSF’s brand identity in Singapore, and develop strategies to raise awareness on humanitarian crises. Key responsibilities include planning, implementing and evaluating communication activities across digital, print, media, and events to support partnerships and recruitment objectives in Singapore.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Digital Marketing
- Define and implement digital marketing strategies aligned with fundraising, communication, and Field HR objectives.
- Manage content for all channels (print and digital) targeting donors, partners, supporters, media, and the general public aligned with MSF’s identity traits in Singapore.
- Work with interns and volunteers to develop social media visibility on owned channels (meta) and build visibility on LinkedIn, tiktok to reach new audiences.
- Work with Digital agency to explore and adopt new digital technologies and tools to enhance engagement.
- Oversee vendor relationships, contracts, and ensure data security and compliance.
- Develop digital media materials (videos, infographics, etc.).
- Build visibility on Singapore partnerships and events on the APAC website.
Strategic communications
- Develop and review strategic communications materials, including corporate pitch decks, organisational value propositions, and tailored communications for government and institutional engagement.
- Act as Crisis communications manager during critical events when called upon by Operations or regional offices.
- Adapt regional and movement wide communications guidance and materials for use in Singapore relevant to local context including developing opinion pieces and communications to key stakeholders.
Partnership Support
- Oversee in collaboration with Partnerships team to develop targeted comms campaigns and engagement events (talks, Webinars, screenings etc.) aimed at generating awareness, new leads, donations, recruits for stakeholder engagement.
Temoignage, advocacy and support for Operations
- Amplify the movement advocacy goals prioritised for Singapore through tailored comms and advocacy.
- Develop approaches that anticipate and respond to the communications needs of MSF operations in the region in collaboration with the different Operational Centers and field missions.
- Engage internally across MSF to identify communication needs and develop comms materials based on priorities for Singapore partnership opportunities.
Building brand visibility in Singapore through media engagement and events
- Through the media communications consultant, develop and implement a proactive media strategy.
- Monitor, report and act on the opportunities and threats presented by public media issues in Singapore.
- Develop and implement event strategies targeting donors and key stakeholders of MSF.
Representation & Positioning
- Represent and position MSF as a credible and trusted partner by articulating its value proposition in advancing global humanitarian health and climate‑related priorities.
- Steward & enhance MSF’s brand in Singapore by assuming primary editorial and positioning oversight for all MSF communications.
Planning, Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Contribute to the annual communications planning process and track progress against strategic priorities and KPIs aligned with MSFHKF strategic objectives.
- Establish, track, and report on KPIs for the Singapore communications plan, including developing dashboards and contributing monthly board reports by collating inputs from internal teams, partners, and external vendors.
- Prepare annual budgets and mid‑year forecasts for approval and exercise accountability to ensure activities are developed within approved budgets.
- Monitor and analyze media coverage for regular Board updates and work with Regional Director of Comms to provide guidance on sensitive issues or crisis communication when needed.
The Ideal Candidate
- Relevant academic background (Master’s or equivalent preferred). Public Relations preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in communications, PR, or journalism at a strategic level.
- Proven track record in campaign management and multi‑channel communications.
- Excellent command of written and spoken Chinese and English is mandatory; Mandarin is desirable.
- Strong writing, editing, and media relations skills.
- Experience in crisis communication and sensitive contexts preferred.
- Ability to manage complex situations and respond quickly during emergencies.
- Ability to work under pressure and to respect deadlines.
- Strategic vision and start‑up mindset.
- Team player with strong networking abilities.
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
- Strong interest and knowledge of world affairs.
