Job description

The Chemical Technician is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the production process operations at the EVAL Manufacturing site, which will commence in the second half of 2026. This role involves monitoring and maintaining the process units' equipment by measuring, recording, and controlling operating parameters. He is also expected to diagnose and rectify system and component faults in accordance with established procedures and specifications, ensuring safe and efficient operation of all process units and equipment. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the Chemical Technician will receive training and learning opportunities in EVAL production technology from experienced Kuraray members until the production line starts. Additionally, the Chemical Technician will participate in equipment commissioning activities to achieve a safe and stable commissioning and startup of the new EVAL plant.

Responsibilities
  • Perform minor maintenance such as strainer cleaning, filter/ screen change, coolant/ lubricants top up and hose connection etc.
  • Perform checks, start-up and shutdown operations on process equipment such as pumps and compressors as per Standard Operating Procedures or Work Instructions.
  • Isolating piping systems for plant start-up, shutdowns, product grade change and troubleshooting operations.
  • Adjusting process parameters to optimize process operations under supervision of Supervisors.
  • Collect process samples from assigned sampling points in a safe manner.
  • Able to work in a laboratory environment performing in process sample testing to ensure product quality.
  • Commissioning and de-commissioning of process equipment.
  • Performing emergency shutdown of process equipment
  • Proper handing and blending of non-conforming and off specs products.
  • Prepare plant equipment for maintenance and ensure all required Lockout, Tagout and Tryout has been performed.
  • Preparing chemicals, including mixing and dilution, for process operations.
  • Performing inter-tank transfers of chemicals and products based on established quality procedures.
  • Performing emergency response activities and drills.
  • Maintain acceptable housekeeping in assigned areas.
  • Review of final product and process analytical results, and DCS conditions/trends
  • Understand and comply with departmental Safety and Environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Contribute to the improvement of the Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Programs.
Requirements
  • NITEC or Diploma in Chemical Process Technology.
  • At least 3 years’ working experience as Process Technician in a chemical industry.
