Business Development Manager (SME Loans) – About the job
Job Responsibilities:
- Proactively develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with loan brokers, business agents, and referral partners.
- Drive consistent and quality business referrals through effective engagement, trust-building, and professional collaboration.
- Act as the main liaison for referred SME clients, understanding their financing needs and offering appropriate solutions.
- Provide exceptional service by addressing client inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Identify and pursue new lending opportunities through broker networks and strategic partnerships.
- Perform initial evaluation of SME clients financial health, business viability, and credit standing.
- Prepare preliminary assessments before submission to the Credit team for formal review and approval.
- Structure and negotiate loan terms in alignment with internal policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain a portfolio of SME loan clients, ensuring accurate monitoring of payment schedules and repayment behavior.
- Coordinate with the Collections Manager to follow up on overdue payments and assist in implementing recovery actions.
- Stay vigilant on early signs of credit risks and take preemptive measures to mitigate defaults.
- Assist clients in completing loan applications and compiling the necessary documentation for submission.
- Guide clients through the end-to-end loan process, from initial inquiry to disbursement and post-loan servicing.
- Offer basic financial advisory to help clients manage cash flow, working capital, and sustainable growth strategies.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 4 years experience in commercial banking, SME lending, or relationship management for SME clients.
- Proven experience in SME lending, financial sales, or business development in the banking or finance industry.
- Strong network of brokers, agents, and SME clients is highly preferred.
- Solid understanding of SME financial statements, business operations, and credit principles.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Self-driven, resourceful, and results-oriented with the ability to work independently.
- Familiarity with Singapores financial regulatory framework and lending practices.
