Key Responsibilities and Focus Areas: The Business Broker role at Fey Day is centered around three core pillars of success: Deal Origination, Managing the Deal, and Networking.
1. 🔍 Deal Origination (The Hunter)
This is the cornerstone of the role, requiring a proactive, sales-driven approach to identify and secure new business opportunities.
- Lead Generation & Prospecting: Proactively identify and target potential sellers (business owners) and buyers (investors, corporations) across various industries in Singapore.
- Market Analysis: Conduct continuous market research to identify trends, valuable businesses for sale, and potential synergistic acquisition targets.
- Client Acquisition: Execute effective outreach strategies to secure initial consultations and exclusive brokerage mandates.
- Valuation Assessment: Conduct preliminary business valuations, utilizing multiple methodologies, to determine a realistic market price for potential listings.
2. 📝 Managing the Deal (The Manager)
From listing to closing, this aspect demands meticulous project management, negotiation expertise, and financial acumen to guide clients through the entire transaction lifecycle.
- Buyer Management: Screen, qualify, and manage inquiries from potential buyers, ensuring confidentiality and focusing on serious prospects.
- Negotiation & Structuring: Lead and manage complex negotiations between buyers and sellers regarding price, terms, and conditions, ensuring a win-win outcome.
- Due Diligence Coordination: Facilitate and manage the due diligence process, working closely with clients, accountants, lawyers, and other advisors to ensure a smooth and timely closing.
- Closing: Drive the transaction to a successful closing, managing all final steps and documentation.
3. 🌐 Networking (The Connector)
Building and maintaining a robust professional network is crucial for sourcing leads, finding qualified buyers, and ensuring smooth deal execution.
- Relationship Building: Cultivate strong, trusted relationships with business owners, entrepreneurs, high-net-worth individuals, and potential investors in the Singapore ecosystem.
- Professional Partnerships: Establish and maintain active referral relationships with key professional services providers, including corporate lawyers, accountants, wealth managers, and bank loan officers.
- Industry Presence: Actively attend and participate in industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to enhance the firm's visibility and generate proprietary deal flow.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Experience: Proven track record (3+ years) in a sales-intensive, deal-oriented role (e.g., consultancy, commercial real estate, or loan brokerage).
- Financial Literacy: Strong understanding of financial statements, business valuation methods, and transaction structuring.
- Skills: Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Singapore Context: Familiarity with the Singapore SME landscape, corporate regulatory environment, and typical transaction structures is highly advantageous.
- Personal Attributes: Highly ethical, results-oriented, self-starter, with a high degree of emotional intelligence and professionalism.
