About the Job

The Department helps the Organisation make better decisions, work efficiently, and innovate confidently by improving data use, developing business intelligence, and enabling responsible AI adoption.

The Business Analyst supports the design, development, and delivery of business intelligence solutions and dashboards that inform decision-making across HQ and the 17 Research Institutes.

This role bridges business needs and technical execution, ensuring that requirements are clearly defined, validated, and translated into actionable analytics outputs. The Business Analyst works closely with Data and BI teams to ensure that insights are accurate, relevant, and well adopted by users.

Key Responsibilities

A. Requirements Gathering & Analysis

• Engage business users to understand strategic objectives, key performance indicators (KPIs), and reporting needs.
• Elicit, document, and validate business requirements, translating them into clear functional specifications for the Data and Analytics teams.
• Support prioritisation of analytics requests based on impact, feasibility, and alignment with organisational goals.

B. Dashboard Design & Delivery

• Collaborate with the Data Analysts and BI Developers to design user-friendly dashboards and reports that meet user needs.
• Perform testing and validation of datasets, business rules, and calculations to ensure data accuracy.
• Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) and coordinate stakeholder feedback for continuous improvement and adoption.

C. Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

• Track analytics adoption metrics and gather user feedback to assess dashboard effectiveness.
• Identify gaps and propose enhancements to ensure dashboards and analytics products remain current and business relevant.
• Support documentation of standardised metrics, definitions, and business logic for reference in shared repositories.

D. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

• Serve as a trusted liaison between business users and technical teams to ensure shared understanding of requirements and outcomes.
• Facilitate discussions, presentations, and workshops to communicate insights, requirements, and recommendations effectively.
• Assist in promoting a culture of data-driven decision-making across departments through proactive engagement and training support.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Computing, Engineering, Economics, or a related discipline.
• 6–8 years of experience in business analysis, performance management, or data-driven transformation roles.
• Skilled in Power BI or equivalent tools for data visualisation and reporting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a structured, detail-oriented approach.
• Proven experience documenting and managing requirements for analytics or IT projects.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse stakeholder groups.
• Familiarity with data warehouses (e.g. Snowflake) and data catalogues (e.g. Alation) is an advantage.
• Certification in Agile, Lean, or Change Management is a plus.
