YOUR ROLE
Role Overview: The candidate will be highly skilled advanced robotics engineer to join our innovative team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing advanced humanoid robotic systems into dark factory / zones. This role requires expertise in robotics engineering, artificial intelligence, and mechanical design to create cutting‑edge solutions that enhance human‑robot interaction and automation capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Reporting: Reports to the Factory Robotics Automation Director (Hybrid) and Site Automation Head
- Location: Primary location based in Singapore / France / Italy / Malta.
- Program Support: Support the ST Sites dark lines / factory automation humanoid program, from substrate to final test.
- Operational Alignment: As an FBO (Finance & Business Operations) member, ensure solutions align with QMT Fabs pilots and deliver immediate benefits.
- Collaboration: Work with various departments to identify automation opportunities and drive continuous improvement initiatives by automating manual and repetitive processes.
- Design and Development:
- Develop and optimize advanced robotic systems, including hardware and software components.
- Design and implement algorithms for motion control, perception, and decision‑making.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate sensors, actuators, and control systems.
- Testing, Validation and Release to Production:
- Conduct rigorous testing and validation of robotic systems to ensure performance, reliability, and safety.
- Analyze and troubleshoot system issues, implementing solutions to improve functionality.
- Execute the deployment of advanced robotics into deployment for dark room / zones.
- Research and Innovation:
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in advanced robotics and artificial intelligence.
- Contribute to research initiatives and propose innovative solutions to enhance robotic capabilities.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and user manuals.
- Present findings and project updates to stakeholders and team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in robotics engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics engineering, computer science, or a related field.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or MATLAB®.
- Experience with robotic frameworks such as ROS (Robot Operating System).
- Knowledge of Semiconductor manufacturing frontend / EWS / backend.
- Strong knowledge of kinematics, dynamics, and control systems.
- Familiarity with sensors, actuators, and embedded systems.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to document technical processes effectively.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in Project Management and Vendor Management.
- Strong Business Communication skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% to 20% as required.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Experience in advanced robot design and development.
- Knowledge of machine learning and computer vision techniques.
- Familiarity with hardware design and prototyping.
- Experience with simulation tools and environments for robotics is highly valued.
- Understanding of digital twin technology: A comprehensive knowledge of digital twin concepts, including their architecture, components, and applications, is crucial. This includes familiarity with simulation, modelling, and real‑time data integration.
- Understanding of NVIDIA platforms: Understand NVIDIA’s digital twin platforms, such as Omniverse™ and Isaac SIM. This includes the tools, frameworks, and APIs provided by NVIDIA for creating and managing digital twins for training.
- Knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML): A strong foundation in AI and ML is necessary to develop intelligent and adaptive digital twin systems. This includes experience with neural network models and generative AI.
- Experience in robotics and humanoid systems: Understanding of robotics, including kinematics, dynamics, and control systems, is essential for creating realistic digital twins. Familiarity with advanced robotics / humanoid‑specific sensors and actuators is also important.
- Programming and simulation skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or similar, as well as experience with simulation tools, is required to design and test digital twin models effectively.
- Collaboration and interdisciplinary knowledge: The ability to work collaboratively with teams from various disciplines, such as mechanical engineering, software development, and data science, is critical for the successful implementation of digital twin technology.
