Job description

An Audiologist is a healthcare professional who specialises in diagnosing, managing, and treating hearing and balance disorders. He/She evaluates disorders related to the auditory and vestibular systems and uses specialised equipment to assess hearing ability and balance function. Based on diagnostic findings, the Audiologist develops treatment plans, prescribes corrective devices such as hearing aids or implants, and provides counselling to help patients adapt to hearing loss and use their devices effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyse diagnostic data in collaboration with other medical professionals to determine diagnoses and appropriate treatment plans.

  • Assess patients experiencing hearing loss, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), or balance-related problems.

  • Examine the ear canal as part of a comprehensive rehabilitative programme.

  • Identify disorders affecting the hearing and balance systems.

  • Measure hearing thresholds, sound discrimination ability, and the functional impact of hearing loss.

  • Provide patient education, rehabilitation, and counselling services.

  • Select, fit, verify, and dispense hearing aids or cochlear implants.

  • Operate audiometers, computer-based systems, and other specialised testing equipment to assess auditory function.

  • Work closely with Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) specialists and other physicians when medical or surgical evaluation is required.

Experience & Skills
  • Proven experience with hearing aids, including consultation, recommendation, fitting, verification, and follow‑up reviews.

  • Experience with hearing implants, including intra‑operative assessment, device switch‑on, and mapping for cochlear and implantable hearing devices.

  • Marketing experience is an added advantage; ability to assist in organising and coordinating events, activities, and supporting assigned projects.
