Location: Singapore Department: Engineering / Data Strategy Reports To: Data Integrity and Strategy Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and proactive IoT Engineer to assess, implement, and maintain IoT-based geotechnical instrumentation systems. You will be responsible for selecting and integrating sensors and communications devices, managing data pipelines, and ensuring reliable data acquisition for structural and geotechnical monitoring. This role bridges hardware deployment, cloud integration, and data integrity, supporting real-time alerting and reporting systems for engineering decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
Sensor setup and system design
  • Design, implement and maintain IoT sensor networks and data acquisition systems for geotechnical applications (e.g., piezometers, inclinometers, strain gauges, total stations, etc.).
  • Identify and specify field data acquisition hardware such as nodes, loggers and gateways.
  • Select, assess, configure, and maintain sensors and communication devices for accurate data acquisition.
Data Acquisition, Transformation, and Management
  • Build and manage data pipelines from edge devices to cloud on on-premise-hosted databases.
  • Implement transformation logic for raw sensor data based on project-specific rules.
  • Ensure data quarantine and release workflows, and alert rules and escalations are correctly programmed and integrated.
  • Collaborate with field teams to set up data monitoring systems for projects.
  • Ensure secure data transmission and storage using best practices.
  • Monitor system health and uptime of IoT infrastructure.
Collaboration & Reporting
  • Work with IT Engineers and other Instrumentation Engineers and Surveyors to develop dashboards and ensure seamless data flow.
  • Support reporting automation and data visualization efforts.
  • Provide technical documentation and training for field teams and stakeholders.
Requirements
Qualifications
  • Diploma or Degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Certifications in IoT, data engineering, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), or communications protocols are a plus.
Skills & Experience
  • Experience with IoT protocols (MQTT, FTP), sensor integration, and embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with SQL databases, data transformation logic, and cloud services.
  • Knowledge of geotechnical instrumentation is highly desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills in field deployments and data flow
