Overview

Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), University of the Arts Singapore, an esteemed arts institution with a global reputation seeks a technically strong Assistant Technical Officer at the School of Music (SOM).

The School of Music is committed to guiding students in their paths towards musical excellence in future careers as performers, composers, educators, conductors and more.

Through a faculty-specific, practice-led, industry-focused curriculum, the School of Music seeks to educate students about global music sphere and expose them to a variety of industry experiences – ultimately empowering the next generation of musicians with artistry, the courage to create and to make their marks in the music industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and process recordings and livestreaming of events, recital examinations, including livestreaming of selected academic and performance classes, lectures, masterclasses and seminars; recording and livestreaming of public performances; and practical and presentation-based assessments. Process footage and upload them to relevant channels for review by lecturers and other stakeholders.
  • Support processes for Industry-Based Learning modules by conducting site visits for Industry Partners for Teaching Practice, Industry Project, and Industrial Attachment modules at Diploma level; act as the main point of contact for Industry Supervisors on assessment requirements and students’ progress. Provide logistical support to students during allocated consultation hours and as necessary during Teaching Practice/Industry Project/Industrial Attachment stints.
  • In consultation with academic colleagues, appoint and guide student assistants in providing logistical and technical support for events. Serve as the main liaison for coordinating logistical and technical requirements with Estate Management Office and Information Technology Office for classes, external events and rectification of issues.
  • Oversee maintenance and troubleshooting of facilities in studios and classrooms, in particular Percussion Studios and Recording Suite.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Diploma qualification in music or arts discipline, with a minimum 5 years’ experience in the arts/music/entertainment industry.
  • Resourceful and proactive in addressing issues, with good organisational and coordination skills; a team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of and interest in music will be an added advantage.
