Role Overview
An Assistant Manager (Mechanical) supports the Mechanical/Engineering Manager in overseeing the design, operation, maintenance, and improvement of mechanical systems, machinery, or facilities. The role bridges hands-on technical work and managerial responsibilities, ensuring smooth operations while guiding a team.
Key Responsibilities

Operations & Maintenance
- Supervise day-to-day operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment (e.g., HVAC, pumps, boilers, production machinery).
- Ensure minimal downtime through preventive and corrective maintenance.

Project Management
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and executing mechanical projects or upgrades.
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance.

Team Supervision
- Lead and guide a team of technicians/engineers.
- Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide training where needed.
- Support manpower planning and shift scheduling.

Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all mechanical systems comply with statutory regulations, codes, and workplace safety standards.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.

Budget & Cost Control
- Assist in preparing budgets for maintenance, spare parts, and projects.
- Monitor expenses and suggest cost-saving measures.

Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare maintenance schedules, work reports, and incident logs.
- Keep updated records of equipment history and compliance documents.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
- Minimum 6 years of progressive leadership experience related industries
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, maintenance practices, and troubleshooting
- Good communication skills (to liaise between technical staff and management)
- Familiarity with safety regulations and risk management
