Job description

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Assistant Director (Research and Programme Operations) to oversee the strategic and operational activities of a leading research institution. You will collaborate closely with the Executive Director and Management Team to manage key projects, research initiatives, and outreach efforts. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with a strong background in research management and programme operations, offering a leadership role within a high-impact and collaborative environment.

Location: Nearest MRT: Kent Ridge
Salary: $9,000 - $12,000/month
Start Date: Early October

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the administration of the institution, developing and implementing strategies in collaboration with the Executive Director and Management Team.
  • Oversee the institution’s project management, including budget planning, manpower allocation, and strategic development, ensuring smooth daily operations.
  • Direct and manage outreach activities locally and nationally, working with various stakeholders, including government, practice, policy, and research bodies.
  • Lead negotiations and agreements for procurement and contracts, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Supervise and develop institution staff, overseeing the strategic workplan and ensuring consistent delivery of key research and programme objectives.
  • Support internal and external communication strategies, including managing the website, webinars, and research dissemination.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in research administration, programme operations, or similar management roles.
  • Strong ability to lead and manage teams, including cross-functional groups, with a focus on strategic planning and operational efficiency.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with a strong understanding of project management tools.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, able to interact with internal and external stakeholders effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a flexible and multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing budgets and overseeing resource allocation.
  • Previous managerial experience in research and higher education settings is highly preferred.
