An Assistant Building Construction Engineer
supports site supervision, quality control, and project documentation, coordinating daily activities, monitoring progress against schedules, liaising with subcontractors, ensuring safety compliance, managing technical documents (drawings, reports, records), and helping with procurement and site logistics
Core Duties & Responsibilities:
- Site Supervision:Assist in daily site management, coordinating workers and equipment, ensuring work aligns with plans and quality standards.
- Quality & Safety:Monitor adherence to safety protocols, conduct inspections, arrange material testing, and maintain quality records.
- Documentation:Prepare, update, and manage technical drawings, site reports, meeting minutes, material requisitions, and as-built drawings.
- Coordination:Liaise with main contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers to resolve site issues and manage deliveries.
- Progress Monitoring:Track work progress, report delays, update schedules, and help implement variation orders.
- Technical Support:Provide assistance with design calculations, structural integrity checks, and technical aspects of the project.
- Procurement:Assist in drafting material requisitions and managing material delivery schedules.
- Assist in project planning, preliminary design, and preparation of technical documentation
- Support development and review of project budgets and schedules
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and government agencies
- Contribute to technical drawings, specifications, and design calculations
- Check site drawings for accuracy and compliance
- Support resolution of technical issues during construction
- Assist with cost estimates, quantity surveying, and job cost tracking
- Oversee and monitor daily site activities and progress
- Supervise site teams to ensure quality and schedule compliance
- Monitor material delivery schedules and manage site inventory
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, regulations, and quality requirements
- Conduct site inspections and tests on materials and procedures
- Prepare daily site reports, progress claims, and maintain project records
- Perform any other ad-hoc duties assigned by Project Manager or management
- Knowledge of construction processes, drawings, and specifications
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work on-site and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Key Skills & Knowledge:
Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Understanding of construction methods, quality assurance, and safety regulations.
Familiarity with BIM and other digital construction tools is increasingly valuable.
