About the Role
The R&D Operation Manager is responsible for overseeing the day to day activities of the research farm, the infrastructure and farm facilities management, ensuring adherence to standard operating protocol for animal care and feed production and compliance with country regulations. He/She will manage R&D farms, provide leadership and mentoring to the team, ensure excellent operational standards, and follow on time and on quality execution of protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the end-to-end operation of the R&D farm including team, system and facility management in ensuring excellent operations standards
- Oversees the execution of research protocols, ensuring they align with R&D objectives.
- Development of operations policies, procedures and guidelines in improving execution process
- Accountable for the operating expense that includes and not limited to budget and forecast planning, material purchasing, inventory, warehouse management for the assigned farm operations management
- Ensure the continuous improvement of the operational management systems, processes and adoption of best practices
- Conduct operations quality controls, feed production monitoring and animal performance KPIs reporting
- Supervise, coach, mentor the farms operations team and ensure continuous team development in supporting the development plan and meeting organization effectiveness.
- Maintain safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations
People Management
- Ensures implementation of and adherence to company policies.
- Recommends training interventions, promotion, and commendation of team members.
- Provides motivation, guidance and coaching for team members depending on evaluation results.
- Performs administrative functions on the conduct of duties.
- Prepare and develop a succession plan to secure the stability of the department
Key Requirements
- College graduate; Bachelor of Science in Agriculture or related disciplines.
- At least ten (5) years work experience in animal husbandry and familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures in feed milling and farm operations.
- Farm and mill experience in a research setting is preferred.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills in driving successful partnerships within and across-functional teams to improve existing business processes, execute strategic initiatives, and develop project roadmaps
