The Application Engineer supports the Sales team in developing optimal vacuum solutions tailored to customer needs. This role involves translating customer requirements into appropriate vacuum solutions and conducting technical evaluations to ensure performance and suitability. The Application Engineer will develop into the local vacuum subject‑matter expert, working closely with local colleagues and leveraging the global engineering network for technical support and knowledge sharing.

The Job
Sales & Application Support
- Provide technical support to customers and collaborate closely with the Sales team to evaluate application requirements and develop appropriate vacuum solutions.
- Engage customers to assess application feasibility, perform system calculations, and design vacuum systems by proposing suitable technical solutions.
- Select appropriate vacuum pumps, instruments, and components to meet customer specifications and requirements.
- Manage sales‑related technical inquiries and prepare proposals for vacuum pumps and system solutions.
- Support the Sales team through regular customer engagement, including follow‑ups on quotations and technical clarifications.
- Serve as the single point of contact for technical clarifications for customers, contractors, and distributors.
- Track and report quotation activities and participate in monthly reporting processes.
System Design & Execution
- Take ownership of the engineering, fabrication, performance, cost, and on‑time delivery of small to medium‑sized vacuum systems.
- Coordinate the engineering and execution of large‑scale systems manufactured by other group entities.
- Supervise system technicians during system assembly, including piping, valves, instrumentation, skid frames, control panels, testing, and painting.
- Lead Final Acceptance Testing (FAT) at production facilities and Testing & Commissioning (T&C) at customer sites.
- Coordinate with factories, external vendors, and subcontractors, and prepare technical documentation such as GA drawings and P&IDs using 3D SolidWorks (mandatory requirement), with partial support from internal engineering teams where applicable.
- Conduct contract reviews prior to order entry to ensure a clean‑order process by evaluating customer specifications against proposed solutions and resolving any ambiguities.
- Coordinate with the Order Administration team on shipment updates and customer communications through to final delivery.
- Provide customer training on system operation as required.
Regional Coverage
- Provide technical and application support across Singapore, Indonesia, and Philippines.
The Talent
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Technology, Chemical Engineering, or other relevant engineering disciplines is preferred.
- 3-4 years of relevant experience in application engineering and sales support; prior exposure to system design is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Proficient in the use of 3D SolidWorks.
- Strong technical aptitude with hands‑on exposure to mechanical equipment.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems and mechanical construction principles.
- Project management experience is an added advantage.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
