Introduction

This is a Research & Development (R&D) Application Engineer/Chemist position within the Electronic and Industrial Finishing (EIF) Group. This role is located in our Innovation Lab, Kallang Singapore.

Your role will be highly involved in development and improvement of metallization products for telecom, data center, consumer, and other electronics end markets. You will work in partnership with our global team of scientists and engineers to develop and commercialize industry‑leading metallization products that deliver enhanced performance for the diverse electronics markets we serve. You will focus on the development and improvement of chemistries and processes within the metallization research platform.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and refine new metallization products via routine testing and analysis
  • Compliance with environmental health and safety best practices
  • Produce and provide samples of existing and early‑stage products to customers for evaluation, feedback, and iteration
  • Provide on‑site technical assistance to customers during early installations of new products
  • Conduct experiments and evaluations independently and as part of a team while exhibiting a strong commitment to safety at all levels
  • Participate in team approach to product development by sharing knowledge, ideas, and creativity
  • Evaluate and communicate customer’s critical requirements for successful product implementation
  • Collaborate with R&D and other functions to successfully meet commercialization requirements
Education, Experience & Qualifications
  • Experience with applied electrochemistry and electroplating techniques, inorganic chemistry, corrosion science, surface science and/or metallization techniques is required
  • A Master’s or Ph.D.'s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Electrochemistry is required
  • Experience with a wide range of analytical techniques including SEM/EDS, XRF, XRD, wet chemical techniques, or surface analysis methods
  • Background in formulating new products, track record of innovation, and excellent practical laboratory skills is preferred
  • Good problem‑solving skills and ability to quickly become competent in an unfamiliar area of work
  • Effective verbal and written communication on all aspects of program activity, including demonstrated ability to make clear, persuasive, concise, and well‑organized oral presentations
  • Excellent time management skills and strong bias for action
  • Must be able to work well in teams and to work independently with limited supervision
  • Strong commitment to core safety values and best practices for safety including review of risk assessments, job safety analyses, standard operating procedures and MSDS
  • Position may require some travel to international locations and customer facilities
  • Travel Expectations: may require up to 20% travel to customer facilities and international locations.
