Job summary

A major international airline based in Singapore is seeking a Licensed Aircraft Engineer to oversee and audit the base maintenance of their aircraft at Changi Airport. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in wide-body aircraft maintenance, particularly Boeing 777 or 767, and hold a First Grade Aircraft Engineer Certificate. Proficiency in Japanese at JPLT N1 is required to facilitate communication with the Tokyo Head Office. This role demands a commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years of working experience in an airline as a Licensed Aircraft Engineer.
  • At least 10 years of experience in base maintenance of wide-body aircraft, specifically Boeing 777 or 767.
  • Possession of a First Grade Aircraft Engineer Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • More than 5 years of experience as an airline receiving inspector.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Japanese aviation laws and regulations.
  • Japanese language proficiency at JPLT N1 or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee base maintenance of Japan Airlines aircraft at Changi Airport.
  • Audit and oversee quality of base maintenance with STEASC.
  • Review and approve repair plans for defects.
  • Conduct audits of STEASC’s maintenance operations.

Job Description
  • Responsible for overseeing the base maintenance of Japan Airlines aircraft at Changi Airport, ensuring all maintenance activities fully comply with the company's stringent safety and quality standards to guarantee safe operations for passengers.
  • Leverage extensive technical knowledge and hands‑on experience with Japan Airlines' aircraft, as well as thorough understanding of Japanese aviation laws and regulations, to audit and oversee the quality of base maintenance performed in collaboration with ST Engineering Aerospace Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "STEASC").
  • Review and approve repair plans prepared by STEASC for defects founded, based on knowledge of the aircraft and comprehensive awareness of Japan Airline's aircraft maintenance standards.
  • Conduct audits of STEASC's daily maintenance operations and maintain close communication with relevant teams to ensure all aircraft maintenance meet Japan Airlines' high safety and quality standards.
  • In the event of aircraft technical issues during maintenance, promptly lead and coordinate emergency response actions in close with STEASC and the Japan headquarters.

  • Possession of a First Grade Aircraft Engineer Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • More than 5 years of experience as an airline receiving inspector, conducting inspections of aircraft base maintenance performed by third‑party maintenance providers.
  • Comprehensive knowledge on Japanese aviation laws and regulations.
  • Diploma in Engineering or other relevant professional certificates.
  • Japanese language proficiency at JPLT N1 or equivalent is required, to ensure accurate and timely communication with the Tokyo Head Office and to coordinate promptly with relevant departments in the event of an urgent aircraft technical issue.
