Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Singapore seeks an Accountant to handle the full set of accounts, including AR, AP, GL, and manage hire purchase and leasing transactions. The ideal candidate will possess a Diploma or Degree in Accounting, experience in full account handling, and knowledge of Singapore GST regulations. Familiarity with accounting software like Xero or SAP is preferred. This position supports month-end closing and assists in audit activities, offering a diverse set of financial responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Preferred hands-on experience with hire purchase and leasing accounting.

Job description

Job Scope: Accountant (Full Set, Hire Purchase & Leasing)

Key Responsibilities:

Handle full set of accounts independently, including AR, AP, GL, bank reconciliations and month-end closing

Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements and schedules

Record and manage hire purchase and leasing transactions, including:

Capitalisation of leased assets

Allocation of principal and interest

Monthly HP / lease schedules and reconciliations

Interest expense and liability tracking

Ensure proper accounting treatment in accordance with SFRS (including SFRS(I) where applicable)

Prepare GST returns, ensure accuracy of GST treatment for HP and leasing transactions

Assist in audit, tax computation and statutory filings

Liaise with auditors, tax agents and external parties when required

Maintain proper documentation and accounting records

Support year-end closing and ad-hoc finance tasks

Requirements:

Diploma / Degree in Accounting or equivalent

Experience handling full set of accounts

Hands-on experience with hire purchase and leasing accounting preferred

Familiar with Singapore GST and statutory requirements

Able to work independently and meet deadlines

Experience with accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB, SAP, etc.)
