Position Overview
Deputy Resident Engineer – Mechanical in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is a construction opportunity with Parsons Corporation for a Saudi National mechanical engineering professional experienced in site supervision, MEP construction, fit‑out works, HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, smoke management, elevators, escalators, testing, commissioning and multidisciplinary coordination. This role supports mechanical construction delivery by guiding site teams, reviewing technical documents, monitoring contractor performance, and ensuring work is completed safely, correctly and in line with approved project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical discipline for the fit‑out team and provide technical direction during site construction activities.
- Provide engineering support for all mechanical works carried out on site, including HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, smoke management, elevators, escalators and related MEP systems.
- Monitor mechanical construction activities against approved drawings, method statements, project specifications, quality procedures and safety requirements.
- Review contractor mechanical shop drawings and coordinate with structural, architectural, electrical and other disciplines to confirm design integration and constructability.
- Conduct regular site inspections and assess subcontractor performance to verify workmanship, compliance and progress.
- Guide site inspectors on mechanical engineering matters and maintain oversight of inspection activities.
- Work with inspectors to ensure inspection records, test reports, site observations and quality documentation are complete and accurate.
- Review site preparation works and temporary works from a mechanical engineering perspective to confirm alignment with contract requirements.
- Supervise mechanical installations and track contractor schedules related to MEP services and fit‑out delivery.
- Identify mechanical technical issues, report concerns early and support practical solutions that reduce delay and rework.
- Maintain punch lists, snagging records and defect registers while following up with contractors for timely corrective action.
- Review testing and commissioning results for mechanical systems and provide technical comments where required.
- Attend project meetings, progress meetings, site coordination sessions, technical workshops and stakeholder discussions.
- Promote site safety and monitor compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements during mechanical construction activities.
- Support construction planning, sequencing, inspection readiness and delivery in accordance with the Project Quality Plan.
- Monitor progress and assist with verification for payment applications, schedule updates and construction reporting.
- Review field change requests and provide technical input on mechanical variations, design changes and claims.
- Identify potential mechanical work delays and help implement corrective measures to support project completion targets.
- Prepare daily reports, inspection reports, progress updates, estimates, technical notes and project documentation.
- Participate in final inspections, snagging reviews, testing closeout, commissioning support and handover activities.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Saudi National candidate required.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant site‑based experience on construction projects involving mechanical systems.
- Strong experience with HVAC, smoke management, plumbing, firefighting, escalators, elevators and MEP construction works.
- Ability to read, interpret and apply mechanical drawings, shop drawings, specifications, method statements and technical documentation.
- Sound understanding of system interfaces, construction sequencing, fit‑out coordination and multidisciplinary site delivery.
- Strong knowledge of site management practices, inspection procedures, quality control, safety requirements and contractor supervision.
- Experience supporting testing, commissioning, snagging, defect closeout and mechanical handover activities.
- Ability to coordinate with contractors, consultants, clients, site inspectors and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Previous GCC project experience preferred.
- Experience on rail, metro, transit, transportation infrastructure or complex building projects advantageous.
- Experience leading mechanical construction and fit‑out activities within demanding project environments preferred.
- Strong technical judgment with the ability to resolve site issues quickly and professionally.
- Excellent organizational, communication, reporting and problem‑solving skills.
- Detail‑oriented approach with a strong focus on safety, quality, progress and contract compliance.
