Overview
Mechanical Engineer - MEP Works in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is a construction opportunity with Parsons Corporation for a Saudi National mechanical engineering professional experienced in site-based MEP works, HVAC systems, smoke management, plumbing, firefighting systems, elevators, escalators, testing and commissioning, inspections, and contractor coordination. This role supports major infrastructure and construction projects by ensuring mechanical installations are delivered safely, correctly, and in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, quality requirements, and construction schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering and technical support for mechanical works performed on site.
- Implement and monitor mechanical construction activities in line with approved drawings, method statements, project specifications, and safety requirements.
- Review contractor mechanical shop drawings in coordination with structural, architectural, electrical, civil, and MEP disciplines.
- Conduct regular site inspections and evaluate subcontractor performance against quality, safety, workmanship, and project requirements.
- Support and guide site inspectors on mechanical engineering matters and assist in resolving field technical issues.
- Work with site inspectors to maintain complete and accurate Inspection and Test Records.
- Review site preparation activities and temporary works to verify compliance with contract documents and project standards.
- Supervise mechanical installations and monitor contractor construction schedules related to MEP works.
- Identify, report, and assist in resolving technical issues related to HVAC, smoke management systems, plumbing, firefighting systems, escalators, elevators, and other mechanical services.
- Maintain and track mechanical defects, snags, punch-list items, corrective actions, and closure status.
- Review testing and commissioning results for mechanical systems and provide technical comments where required.
- Attend project meetings, site progress meetings, technical coordination meetings, and stakeholder discussions.
- Monitor compliance with site safety, health, environmental, and security requirements.
- Assist in planning and sequencing construction activities in accordance with the Project Quality Plan.
- Monitor mechanical work progress and support verification for progress payments, quantities, and schedule reporting.
- Review Field Change Requests and provide technical input on mechanical‑related variations, changes, and claims.
- Support corrective actions to address delays, quality issues, interface conflicts, and construction deviations.
- Prepare daily reports, inspection reports, estimates, site records, and project documentation as required.
- Participate in final inspections, snagging activities, testing reviews, handover preparation, and project close‑out processes.
- Coordinate with contractors and multidisciplinary project teams to support safe, compliant, and timely completion of mechanical works.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Saudi National candidate required.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant site‑based experience on construction projects involving mechanical systems.
- Extensive experience with HVAC systems, smoke management systems, plumbing, firefighting systems, escalators, elevators, and related mechanical services.
- Strong ability to interpret mechanical drawings, shop drawings, technical documentation, method statements, and project specifications.
- Sound understanding of engineering drawings, multidisciplinary interfaces, MEP coordination, and construction processes.
- Good knowledge of site management practices, construction safety requirements, inspection procedures, and quality control requirements.
- Experience supporting mechanical construction and fit‑out activities in complex project environments is preferred.
- Previous GCC project experience is advantageous.
- Experience on rail, metro, transit, transportation infrastructure, or major infrastructure projects is preferred.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with contractors, consultants, clients, inspectors, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong technical, organizational, coordination, reporting, and problem‑solving skills.
- Detail‑oriented approach with strong focus on safety, quality, compliance, documentation accuracy, and timely issue resolution.
