Role Context
The Project Engineer Coordinator will act as an important link between engineering, construction, consultants, contractors, quality, HSE, planning, BIM, project controls, and document control teams. The position supports the timely flow of approved technical information while helping project engineers track outstanding actions, resolve design and site interfaces, and maintain visibility over engineering deliverables. By keeping technical records, submissions, decisions, and follow-up activities organized, the coordinator will help reduce delays and support efficient project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate day-to-day engineering activities under the direction of the Project Engineer or Engineering Manager.
- Facilitate technical communication between Engineering, Construction, Consultants, Contractors, and Project Management teams.
- Maintain engineering action registers and actively follow up outstanding technical matters through closure.
- Coordinate Requests for Information, Technical Queries, design clarifications, and engineering instructions.
- Track engineering submissions through review, commenting, revision, approval, and final issuance stages.
- Maintain Engineering Deliverables Registers, Drawing Registers, technical trackers, and related project records.
- Ensure drawings, specifications, calculations, and other technical documents are distributed to the correct engineering disciplines for review.
- Check incoming submissions for completeness before routing them through the required review workflow.
- Follow up with discipline engineers, consultants, and contractors regarding overdue technical responses and unresolved comments.
- Help organize multidisciplinary design reviews and technical coordination meetings.
- Prepare agendas, meeting minutes, action registers, responsibility assignments, and follow-up records.
- Monitor engineering action deadlines and escale critical or overdue matters when they may affect construction progress.
- Support coordination between design and site teams when drawings, specifications, or actual site conditions require clarification.
- Assist engineers in reviewing technical submissions for completeness, consistency, and coordination with project requirements.
- Coordinate Method Statements, Material Submittals, Inspection and Test Plans, Inspection Requests, and supporting technical documentation where required.
- Help identify design clashes, discipline interfaces, conflicting information, and discrepancies between approved documents and site conditions.
- Liaise with BIM personnel regarding model coordination, design interfaces, and engineering issues identified through digital coordination.
- Ensure construction personnel have access to the latest approved drawings, specifications, instructions, and technical information.
- Track site engineering issues and follow up with the responsible disciplines to obtain timely technical responses.
- Maintain accurate logs covering NCRs, RFIs, Technical Queries, design changes, technical instructions, and engineering actions.
- Assist with engineering change control and communicate approved revisions to affected project stakeholders.
- Track design modifications and help identify potential effects on construction activities and scheduled works.
- Coordinate with Planning and Project Controls teams to provide current engineering progress and deliverable status.
- Support preparation of engineering progress reports, dashboards, status summaries, and management updates.
- Compare engineering deliverable progress against project schedule requirements and highlight potential delays.
- Work with Document Control to ensure technical records are correctly registered, distributed, revised, archived, and retrievable.
- Prepare technical presentations, status summaries, trackers, and supporting information for project meetings.
- Participate in site inspections and multidisciplinary technical coordination activities when required.
- Assist Quality teams with technical clarifications relating to inspections, NCRs, documentation, and corrective actions.
- Coordinate with Construction teams to clarify engineering requirements and support correct implementation on site.
- Support review and coordination of as-built drawings and final engineering records.
- Assist with O and M documentation, technical handover files, and project close‑out requirements.
- Maintain traceable records of engineering correspondence, technical decisions, approvals, and project instructions.
- Follow project engineering procedures, communication protocols, document workflows, and approval requirements.
- Escalate unresolved technical issues, engineering delays, or critical coordination matters to senior engineering personnel.
- Contribute to lessons-learned reviews and continuous improvement activities within the project engineering function.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline.
- Saudi National eligible for the position.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in engineering coordination, project engineering support, construction, infrastructure, consultancy, or project delivery.
- Exposure to airport, aviation, infrastructure, or other complex multidisciplinary projects would be advantageous.
- Good ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications, technical submissions, and construction documentation.
- Familiarity with engineering workflows involving RFIs, Technical Queries, design reviews, submittals, inspections, and change management.
- Comfortable coordinating with several engineering disciplines and following technical actions across multiple stakeholders.
- CAPM, PMP training, or other project management education would be beneficial.
- AutoCAD knowledge and awareness of BIM coordination processes are advantageous.
- Familiarity with Primavera P6 and project scheduling concepts would support the role.
- Exposure to HSE or Quality management processes is useful in multidisciplinary construction environments.
- Strong organizational ability with careful attention to document status, deadlines, revisions, and technical records.
- Proactive approach to following up actions and identifying potential coordination delays.
- Clear communication skills for working with engineers, consultants, contractors, and project management teams.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accuracy during demanding project periods.
