Job Title: Controls and Governance Lead

Term: 12 months

PURPOSE OF JOB

The Controls and Governance Lead will play a pivotal role in ensuring operational discipline, accuracy, and compliance across card products and related activities. This individual will act as the first line of control within the cards function safeguarding processes, reviewing partner deliverables, and maintaining the integrity of customer-facing information and internal documentation. The role demands persistence, attention to detail, and a persuasive, personality-driven approach to influence stakeholders and enforce standards.

TASKS
Core Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Controls & Oversight
  1. Serve as the internal point of accountability for governance within the cards team, ensuring adherence to agreed standards and procedures.
  2. Review partner and vendor reports, validating compliance with regulatory, contractual, and operational requirements.
  3. Monitor contractual timelines, flagging expired or soon-to-expire agreements and escalating for timely renewal or closure.
  4. Oversee telesales scripts and operations to confirm accuracy of cardholder communications and consistency with product documentation.
  5. Ensure customer-facing channels (e.g., websites, applications) present accurate, consistent, and up-to-date information across card products and offers.
Documentation & Process Integrity
  1. Review and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for card business functions to ensure relevance, accuracy, and timely updates.
  2. Audit marketing and product collateral to prevent obsolete or conflicting content across digital and print touchpoints.
  3. Provide a detailed eye on contracts, agreements, and business cases before they are escalated for leadership review.
Stakeholder Engagement & Support
  1. Directly support the Head of Cards in day-to-day governance and oversight, acting as a trusted control point for critical documents and processes.
  2. Collaborate with product managers, operations teams, telesales, and external vendors to align practices with contractual and compliance requirements.
  3. Persuasively influence internal and external stakeholders to drive corrective actions, enforce accuracy, and close identified gaps.
Knowledge and Experience
  1. Exceptional attention to detail with a structured and methodical approach.
  2. Proven ability to review and interpret contracts, partner agreements, and reports.
  3. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills able to persuade, influence, and follow through until closure.
  4. Proactive and persistent personality, with the ability to balance control responsibilities while maintaining strong working relationships.
  5. Comfortable working within card product teams and supporting senior leadership directly.
Mandatory Skills
  • Strong governance, compliance, and documentation management experience, preferably within financial services or payment products.
