The Manufacturing Engineer supports the manufacturing process by focusing on the assembly, testing, validation, introduction, evaluation, troubleshooting, regulatory assessment, and assembly process design for electromechanical products. This role is project oriented and involves coordinating with R&D, business units, marketing organizations, and customers to ensure product-related initiatives/projects have a successful outcome and meet customer expectations.
A. Engineering Change Management: Coordinate and implement engineering changes across departments, suppliers, and global sites, ensuring clear communication and documentation.
B. Assembly & Process Optimization: Design and optimize assembly processes and fixtures using DFA (Design for Assembly) principles to ensure the manufacturability of electro-mechanical components.
C. Testing & Validation: Design, implement, and validate in-line testing methods. Use statistical tools like Gage R&R or TMV (Test Method Validation) to ensure measurement system reliability.
D. Quality & Risk Management: Lead risk assessments (FMEA, QN) and support PPAP qualifications. Identify critical characteristics to ensure product integrity and regulatory compliance.
E. Troubleshooting & Performance: Monitor product performance and provide data-driven Root Cause Analysis for assembly or testing failures.
F. Technical Training: Educate production and quality personnel on new products, testing protocols, and engineering changes.
G. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with R&D, Marketing, and Supply Chain to support new product development, material sourcing, and electro-mechanical integration.
H. Project & Continuous Improvement: Drive Lean initiatives and manage technical timelines/budgets for new product introductions (NPI) and production transfers.
I. Production Transfers: Perform manufacturing transfer activities like process documentation, BOM and routing creation, MRP data transfer, golden sample inspection, line development, risk assessment/mitigation, pilot run, process improvement, change management, personnel training, process verification, and task management for lines being transferred into Mexico.
J. Travel: Ability to travel 5% to 10% for site and supplier support.
