ISP IT Assistant Role Profile

Purpose of Role

The IT Assistant supports the smooth operation of the school’s technology infrastructure by providing technical assistance to staff and students, maintaining hardware and software systems, and ensuring timely resolution of IT-related issues. This role contributes to a reliable and secure technology environment that supports teaching, learning, and administrative functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide first-level technical support for staff and students regarding hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Install, configure, and maintain school computers, printers, projectors, and other IT equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining the inventory of IT equipment and software licenses.
  • Support the setup and troubleshooting of classroom technology (e.g., smart boards, AV equipment).
  • Monitor and report network or system issues to the IT Coordinator for resolution.
  • Ensure data security by following school IT policies and procedures.
  • Document recurring problems and solutions to support continuous improvement.
  • Assist with software updates, system backups, and routine maintenance tasks.
  • Provide basic training or guidance to staff and students on the use of school technology tools.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to support school events that require technological setup.

  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to assist non-technical users.

Qualifications and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or associate degree in IT or related field preferred.
  • Basic experience with Windows and macOS operating systems, Microsoft Office, and common educational software.
  • Familiarity with networks, printers, and audiovisual equipment.
  • Previous experience in a similar IT support or helpdesk role is an advantage.
  • Willingness to learn and grow professionally in a school environment.
  • Basic English communication skills (written and spoken) if required.
