A full-service insurance agency based in California is seeking a Customer Service & Sales Consultant specializing in Property & Casualty Insurance. The role involves client communication, policy servicing, and sales growth. This full-time position offers a salary of $7 to $8 per hour plus commission, with a work schedule from 8:00am to 5:00pm PDT.

Role Overview

The client is a full-service insurance agency and brokerage firm specializing in a comprehensive suite of personal, commercial, life, and health insurance products. Based in California, they are recognized for their deep expertise in Commercial Auto and Specialty P&C risks, including Trucking (Tractor-Trailer, Box Truck) and Public Auto (Limousine, Taxicab, and Non-Emergency Medical Transportation - NEMT). Their mission is to act as a trusted advisor, utilizing their broad network of carriers to match clients with tailored coverage that protects their financial assets and supports their business goals while prioritizing low expenses and exceptional service.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated, preferably licensed, and customer-focused Virtual Assistant for Customer Service and Sales to join the client39;s team. This dual-role position blends administrative support with direct client engagement to service existing policies, quote new business, and drive sales growth. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, tech-savvy, and would ideally possess an active California Property & Casualty license.

Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Administration
  • Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients via phone, email, and live chat, answering questions regarding their Property & Casualty (P&C) policies (e.g., auto, home, umbrella).
  • Policy Servicing: Process policy changes, endorsements, cancellations, and renewals accurately and efficiently in carrier portals and our agency management system (AMS/CRM).
  • Claims Support: Act as a liaison between the client and the carrier to assist with the initial claim filing process and provide follow-up on claim status.
  • Documentation: Maintain up-to-date and accurate client records, policy files, and transaction details while ensuring strict adherence to California regulatory and compliance standards.
  • Billing Inquiries: Resolve customer billing questions and process payments.
Sales & Quoting Support
  • Lead Management: Track, manage, and qualify inbound leads using the agency's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.
  • Quoting: Gather necessary client data and run accurate quotes for new business and cross-selling opportunities across multiple insurance carriers.
  • Consultation & Sales: Effectively communicate and explain plan options, coverages, and pricing to prospective and existing clients. Advise on appropriate coverage levels to meet client needs.
  • New Business Processing: Complete and submit new insurance applications, ensuring all trailing documents and regulatory requirements are secured in a timely manner.
  • Retention: Proactively contact existing clients for policy reviews and renewal updates to maximize retention and identify cross-sell opportunities.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Licensing: Active and valid California Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance License is preferred but not required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in the Property & Casualty insurance industry, ideally in a customer service, sales, or Account Manager/CSR role.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proven proficiency with agency management systems and Customer Relationship Management software.
  • Communication: Exceptional English verbal, written, and active listening skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to resolve client issues and coverage questions independently.
