RINA is currently recruiting for a Venice Marine Senior Surveyor to join its office in Venice, Italy within the Mediterranean and Africa Marine Division.

Mission

The Senior Surveyor serves as an experienced and knowledgeable professional within the organization, applying expertise in maritime Rules, Regulations, and industry principles. The Senior Surveyor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and continuous improvement of surveying processes.

Key Accountabilities
  • Specialist Expertise : Apply comprehensive knowledge of maritime Rules, Regulations, and industry best practices to inspect and verify compliance. Stay vigilant on emerging trends and standards, recommending enhancements to our surveying framework and safety protocols.
  • Inspection and Reporting : Carry out precise and detailed surveys on a range of vessels and offshore installations. Document these inspections meticulously by preparing technical reports that are both accurate and timely, ensuring clarity and thoroughness.
  • Leadership and Coordination : Organize survey operations by planning schedules and coordinating activities effectively. Mentor and support junior surveyors to elevate the overall quality of surveying outcomes.
  • Client Relations : Build strong, professional relationships with clients to address surveys, resolve technical issues, and ensure high client satisfaction through prompt and transparent communication.
  • Training and Development : Actively participate in the ongoing training, development, and guidance of team members to cultivate a knowledgeable and skilled surveying workforce.
  • Quality Assurance : Maintain rigorous oversight on work performed to ensure consistency, accuracy, and adherence to all regulatory and company standards.
  • Ethical Standards : Exemplify integrity, fairness, and transparency in every survey and client interaction to uphold RINA’s reputation and commitment to ethical conduct.
  • Travel and Field Work : Be prepared to undertake extensive travel (50% - 75%) to various locations, including offshore and shipyards, to perform duties with professionalism and dedication.
Education

Master’s Degree in Naval Engineering

Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Naval Engineering or an equivalent advanced maritime engineering qualification.
  • Minimum three years of professional experience as a Surveyor, or alternatively six years in engineering or inspection / survey roles within an IACS member Classification Society.
  • Solid understanding of RINA’s strategic technical positioning and a commitment to supporting its objectives within the marine industry sector.
  • Fluency in English adequate to interact effectively within classification, statutory certification, and related services, ensuring clear communication and documentation.
  • Proven ability to comprehend and apply RINA Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, related instructions, and the RINA Employee Safety Policy.
  • Insight into engineering plans, shipbuilding practices, and ship operations, enabling precise assessments during surveys.
  • Capability to conduct complex surveys including new building assessments, in-service ship surveys, marine management system audits, and testing activities, ensuring compliance at all levels.
  • Strong knowledge of ship engineering systems, machinery, and relevant computer software related to surveying activities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to sustainable development, emotional intelligence, change management, network building, decision-making, client intimacy, and earning trust within multidisciplinary teams.
