Talent Scientist – Canonical

Join Canonical as a Talent Scientist to drive the science of how we hire and to partner with leaders across the business to build a world class talent pool.

Location: Remote – EMEA region
Employment type: Full‑time
Seniority level: Mid‑Senior level

What your day will look like
  • Drive talent analytics to provide our business with real‑time insight and help them move through hiring processes efficiently.
  • Conduct in‑depth behavioural talent interviews, providing considerable insight into motivations and behaviours.
  • Build key relationships with global stakeholders to ensure we deliver against our hiring agenda, closely monitor hiring activities, drive results and maintain consistency in our operational processes.
  • Drive data‑driven insights to ensure our decision‑making process is robust and supportive of hiring outcomes.
  • Consider our employer brand and how our interactions with a candidate impact their experience.
  • Review and streamline hiring processes and tools to drive continuous improvement.
  • Work with external third parties and platforms to maximise our return on investment.
  • Bring a passion for diversity and inclusion, ensuring we remove unconscious bias from our hiring process and that our sourcing strategy supports this.
Responsibilities
  • Embed scientific approaches that deliver impact on how an organisation selects talent.
  • Lead and collaborate with hiring leads to drive initiatives, automation and best practices.
  • Provide expert viewpoint on talent assessments and raise awareness and insights across the business.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders to ensure consistent, data‑driven hiring decisions.
  • Share insights and improve process for a seamless candidate experience.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Psychology or a closely related subject.
  • Strong background in behavioural interviewing, competency‑based and psychometric assessments.
  • Excellent analytical problem‑solving skills; ability to identify trends and patterns using SQL, Python, statistical analysis or BI tooling.
  • Experience of hiring talent in the technology or consulting industry.
  • High level of personal organisation, self‑drive and ability to work remotely.
  • Willingness to travel to company events 2–4 times a year for up to two weeks each.
  • Passionate about how an organisation selects talent through scientific approaches and the ability to predict and measure hiring outcomes.
