Overview

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all construction and commissioning services and activities within the scope of Hitachi Energy in HVDC converter stations in Italy and abroad. As the Site Manager, you will manage all phases of the project to ensure it is completed on time and within budget. The position is site-based requiring presence on construction sites in Italy throughout assignments.

Responsibilities
  • You act as the main interface to the Customer on all contractual matters and maintain a good relationship with local authorities and organizations.
  • You manage manpower requirements on site and drive site activities to achieve contractual milestones and targets.
  • You manage change management on site, including variation orders to subcontractors.
  • You warrant that all tests are performed and accepted by the customer according to contractual conditions.
  • You foster a culture of proper understanding and adherence by all site personnel to Health, Environment and Safety requirements.
  • You ensure that all activities are done with the expected quality and that all quality records are created and properly archived.
  • You ensure that all permits, licenses, and requirements are in place for compliant execution of site activities.
  • You ensure structured, up-to-date, and reliable documentation handling on site and towards the Headquarters; you guarantee activities are performed within defined contractual schedules and milestones, and you understand the project budget to keep costs within budget.
  • You are assigned as Site Manager or Site Representative in medium to large EPC converter station projects, complex Consortium projects, Equipment Only projects, or as Deputy Site Manager in large EPC converter station projects.
Background / Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering.
  • Experience (minimum 5 years) as Site Manager on construction sites in the energy sector or similar industrial projects, particularly in medium and large size projects.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • Fluent in Italian (written and spoken).
  • Relevant and certified knowledge and experience in HSE, particularly courses required for the role of Capo Cantiere in Italy.
  • Very structured and organized, good people management skills, collaboration and team-working spirit, resilient, excellent customer interface and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Italy, Europe and worldwide.
