Job Description:

RINA is currently recruiting for a Senior System Engineer (Defence Sector) to join its office in ROME within the Electronics and Systems Engineering Division.

Mission

The System Engineer supports the client in developing tailor-made system solutions that meet specific requirements, providing added value through design and process optimization. Responsibilities include system specification activities, defining and allocating requirements, and collaborating with stakeholders to understand system needs. Activities can be performed in-office, on-field, or at the client’s premises.

Key Accountabilities

• Requirement Management: Collaborate with the client’s development team to specify and maintain system requirements, including functional, non-functional, and interface requirements.
• System Functionality Definition: Identify and describe key functionalities considering requirements and user needs.
• Review and Approval: Conduct periodic reviews of system specifications with stakeholders to ensure accuracy and obtain approval.
• System Configuration Management: Manage changes in requirements and configurations during development, ensuring proper evaluation, documentation, and implementation.
• System Test and Integration: Oversee system testing and integration, either in factory or on-field.
• Document Management: Support technical documentation writing and develop reports and presentations.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering or Electronics

Qualifications

• Good knowledge of English
• Basic knowledge of front-edge technologies and experience in drafting system requirements, verification, and validation
• Basic programming skills in at least one language
• Knowledge of international standards (e.g., ISO 15288, ECSS-E-ST-10, MIL-STD-498, DO-254, DO-178)
• Knowledge of software modeling tools (e.g., Matlab/Simulink)
• Ability to analyze data and prepare reports, metrics, graphs
• Experience with engineering tools like IBM DOORS, Microsoft Office, CAD, finite element software
