Role details

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer for a Major Automotive OEM in Italy, with strong C / C++ expertise, to architect, develop, test, and maintain software across the full product lifecycle, working closely with cross-functional teams and external partners on automotive programs.

• Role can be taken either as a freelance engagement or as a permanent employee position
• Freelancers : 39–44 EUR / h
• Salary (annual) : 48 000–52 000 EUR gross

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, develop, test, analyze, debug, and maintain software applications across the production lifecycle
• Work with the Product Owner and Scrum Master on estimation, planning, and iterative delivery
• Collaborate with multiple software and system competencies to resolve blockers within owned modules
• Lead / mentor software developers on automotive projects (2–5 years of leadership within projects)
• Coordinate development with architects, Tier-1 suppliers, and other stakeholders

Qualifications

• Degree and 6–10 years of relevant experience
• Strong C and C++ (C++11 / 14, STL)
• Object-oriented analysis and UML; ability to produce low-level design docs
• Build systems : Make, CMake; exposure to Yocto
• Unit testing and static code analysis; proficiency with debugging tools (gdb, valgrind)
• Desired : automotive background; protocols (CAN, UART, SPI, TCP / UDP-IP); middleware (SOME / IP, D-Bus, CommonAPI); test tools (CANoe, PeakCAN); frameworks (Legato, Macchina)
