This role involves overseeing the entire lifecycle of data center development, ensuring on-time delivery, compliance with regulations, and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Engineering or Architecture and at least 7-10 years of experience in project management. Strong communication skills in both English and Italian are required, offering a hybrid work environment.

General Purpose of the Position

The Project Manager (PM) for Data Center Design and Construction Projects will oversee the full lifecycle of data center development, from initial design and permitting through to construction, commissioning, and handover to operations. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of the project, including coordinating the design, construction, procurement, subcontractors, vendors, and client interfaces. The PM will ensure the project is delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory requirements, while meeting the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end data center construction projects, from initial design and permitting through to construction, commissioning, and handover to operations
  • Develop and manage project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and resources
  • Coordinate design teams, engineers, contractors, vendors, and local authorities
  • Ensure that the design integrates critical systems such as electrical, mechanical, IT infrastructure, cooling, and fire suppression
  • Ensure all necessary permits and regulatory approvals are obtained in compliance with local, regional, and national laws
  • Oversee the construction process and conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety
  • Manage contractors and subcontractors performance and coordination
  • Monitor and control project costs, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and delays
  • Oversee the testing, commissioning, and handover processes
  • Ensure smooth handover to operations, including documentation and manuals
  • Provide clear project reporting to clients and senior management
Required Skills and Background
  • Degree in Engineering or Architecture
  • At least 7-10 years of experience as Project Manager / Construction Project Manager
  • Preferred background in Data Centers or Oil & Gas projects
  • Experience in Budgeting, cost control, and scheduling
  • Project Planning & Execution: Strong capability in project planning, scheduling, and resource management.
  • Contractor and stakeholder management
  • Knowledge of Italian building codes and HSE regulations
  • Fluent English and Italian

This role offers a hybrid working model, with 3 days on-site and 2 days remote work per week.
