BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT

WFP provides school meals to an average of 18 million children every year and works with governments to design and implement nationally owned, financially sustainable school feeding programmes. These technical assistance activities support programmes covering over 39 million schoolchildren worldwide. The role supports the new School Feeding Strategy, aiming to secure funding for school feeding through private sector partners, international financial institutions, innovative financing, host governments, multilateral funds and traditional donors.

ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Partnerships
  • Engage across the PPGS team and corporate global units to support the mobilization of donor resources for school feeding.
  • Provide support and liaise with relevant donors for the preparation of strategic School Health and Nutrition funding proposals, concept notes and briefing documents for internal and external stakeholders. Act as the lead focal point for the Global Partnership for Education in designing and implementing the technical assistance facility in focus countries.
  • Substantially contribute to the development of the innovative partnership model aimed at delivering strategic technical assistance through analysis of partnership capacities and comparative advantages of key partners within the School Meals Coalition.
  • Put together inputs for briefing documents for management meetings with donors and partners.
Country Support
  • Support team efforts in the regionalization of the School Feeding Funding Strategy.
  • Act as the partnership focal point for the assigned countries where the technical assistance facility pilot will be implemented, supporting roll‑out of the initiative (from contextual analysis, partnership and influencing mapping, inception missions and workplan design workshops).
  • Any other duties as may be required by the Hiring Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education

Advanced degree in Political Science, International Development, Law, Marketing Communications or a relevant field, or a first university degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training courses.

Experience

Three years of relevant experience in International Development or International Relations.

Knowledge & Skills

Relationship/partner management, resource mobilization, excellent writing and analytical skills, project management, proposal writing.

Languages

Fluency (level C) in English. Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second UN language is a plus.
