Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Support Engineer with strong technical expertise in enterprise networking, combined with leadership and client management skills. The role involves managing a team of network engineers, handling client escalations, and ensuring smooth delivery of network support and upgrade projects. While the work will primarily be remote, the candidate must be flexible to travel onsite (up to 20%) when required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of network engineers, providing technical guidance, workload distribution, and performance oversight.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, managing escalations, updates, and ensuring SLA adherence.
- Oversee day-to-day L2/L3 network operations, including VLAN configuration, trunking, inter-VLAN routing, and switch management.
- Manage firewall administration (Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Checkpoint) including policies, NAT/PAT, and VPNs.
- Drive and coordinate network upgrades, firmware updates, and migration projects with minimal downtime.
- Ensure delivery of network documentation (HLDs, LLDs, diagrams, SOPs) using MS Visio or similar tools.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to plan and execute network refreshes, firewall migrations, and datacenter transitions.
- Monitor network performance, identify risks, and implement proactive measures to prevent outages.
- Align support activities with security best practices and compliance standards.
- Mentor team members, conduct knowledge-sharing sessions, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 7+ years of experience in network engineering and support roles.
- Bilingual – English & Italian (mandatory)
- Proven track record of leading teams and managing client relationships in a remote/hybrid setup.
- Strong technical expertise in Cisco or equivalent L2/L3 switches and enterprise firewalls (Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or Checkpoint).
- Hands-on experience in network upgrades, migrations, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in network documentation tools (MS Visio, SolarWinds Topology Mapper, or similar).
- Solid understanding of network security standards and compliance frameworks.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Certifications such as CCNP Security, CCNP Enterprise, Fortinet NSE 4+, Palo Alto PCNSE or equivalent are highly desirable.
