An NGO dedicated to humanitarian missions is seeking a Medical Doctor (voluntary) in Syracuse, Italy. Rotation 24 from 12th January to 16th February 2026

Humanity 1 | Syracuse, Italy

SOS Humanity is looking for a Medical Doctor (voluntary) to join the medical team on board the Humanity 1 for Rotation 24.

You will work as part of a four-person medical team (Medical Doctor, Nurse/Paramedic, Midwife, Mental Health Specialist), supervised by the Care Coordinator. The onboard clinic is equipped for first and secondary aid to provide emergency care and ongoing treatment until a Port of Safety is reached.

Your Responsibilities
  • Conduct medical triage and provide initial care to survivors on arrival
  • Recognise and manage potentially life-threatening complications
  • Provide basic medical support to survivors and crew members
  • Assess and coordinate medevacs with the Head of Mission
  • Ensure accurate referrals to Italian authorities and relevant medical services
  • Maintain an organised, functional clinic space throughout the rotation
  • Document medical cases in line with internal and external requirements
Your Profile
  • Valid license to practice medicine
  • Minimum 3 years clinical experience
  • Strong background in emergency medicine
  • Confident decision-making in high-pressure, resource-limited settings
  • Trauma-sensitive and culturally aware communication
  • English C1; Italian and/or French are a strong advantage
  • Experience in humanitarian or maritime contexts is a plus
