An international humanitarian organization is seeking a Livelihoods Assistant (Agribusiness) in Italy to focus on youth mobilization and vocational skills development. You will design training programs, collaborate with local businesses for job placements, and support community initiatives. Candidates should have a Bachelor's in Agribusiness and experience in community work. The role requires excellent communication skills and knowledge of local languages. This is a full-time position with a 12-month contract, starting ASAP.

Competenze

Position Overview

Job Title: Livelihoods Assistant (Agribusiness)

No. of Positions: Three (3)

Place of Assignment: Adjumani and Kiryandongo District.

Reports To: Project Officer Agribusiness.

Starting date: ASAP

Duration of Contract: 12 months

The closing date for applications: 18th January 2026.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Agribusiness Officer, you will be responsible for community‑level youth mobilization, providing support and guidance to young people in developing their entrepreneurial, vocational, and interpersonal skills for dignified and fulfilling work opportunities. You will engage with the community, identify training needs, and create opportunities for young people to acquire relevant skills and enhance their employability. You will play a critical role in supporting the implementation of the project activities under the AMS project by working closely with participants on a day‑to‑day basis. This includes technical backstopping and other support to beneficiary individual youth, farmer‑led youth organisations and associations, and other stakeholders such as local CBOs/NGOs and private sector players, input dealers, and off‑takers who are working with project beneficiaries.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with project manager, Agribusiness officer and consortium partner staff to design and develop tools, market‑relevant skilling curriculum and training materials tailored to the needs of young people.
  • Plan and organise skills training workshops, vocational training sessions, financial literacy, and other educational activities in coordination with project staff, stakeholders, and local technical and vocational training institutions.
  • Liaise with local businesses, employers, and industries to create job placement opportunities, internships, and apprenticeships for trained young people.
  • Assist in identifying market opportunities and potential business partnerships for young entrepreneurs.
  • Collaborate with the project team to identify innovative approaches to expand the programme’s reach and impact.
  • Conduct regular outreach activities, meetings, awareness sessions and closely work with key stakeholders to establish strategic alliances and secure support.
  • Organise community meetings and awareness sessions to promote the programme’s objectives and opportunities.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to programme participants, offering support in setting goals, career planning, skills identification, interests, entrepreneurial aspirations and personal development.
  • Assist participants in developing business plans, market penetration, market research, product/service branding, customer acquisition and feasibility studies for their proposed ventures.
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor the skills training, implementation of business plans and provide feedback to the participants.
  • Facilitate access to financial services, microcredit and business development resources for beneficiary youth.
  • Engage with the local community and maintain strong relationships with refugee and host communities including young people, parents, community leaders and relevant stakeholders to identify skill gaps and training needs.
  • Participate in CBF selection recruitment, screening and selection, ensuring inclusivity and diversity.
  • Identify and engage with participants, assessing their needs and aspirations and jointly design strategies to help them realise their dreams.
  • Collaborate with other project staff and partners to develop and implement operational plans and detailed strategies for the effective implementation of Youth in Work interventions.
  • Collect and maintain accurate records of participant profiles, progress, and achievements.
  • Monitor the progress and performance of the participants, providing feedback and assistance as needed to ensure their successful completion of the programme.
  • Prepare reports on programme activities, including success stories, document achievements, challenges, and lessons learned for Programme management and stakeholders.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Enterprise Development, social work, community development, or related field.
  • At least 3 years proven experience in community work, youth development, or related fields.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships with diverse stakeholders, including youth, community leaders and employers.
  • Knowledge of the project location and its social, cultural and economic context is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of local languages spoken in the Adjumani and Kiryandongo is desirable.
  • Familiarity with work in refugee host‑community settings is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Motorcycle riding skills is an added advantage.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to execute a range of job duties and changing priorities.
