SMA Italia S.r.l. is seeking a dedicated and experienced Health & Safety Officer (HSO) to ensure our operations comply fully with Italian and European health and safety legislation. This Specialist role is vital for maintaining a safe and healthy working environment by implementing and overseeing our comprehensive health and safety management systems.

Your Vital Role and Primary Responsibilities

The HSO is responsible for a complex mix of technical and regulatory duties, ensuring the safety of all personnel, including external contractors:

  • Risk Assessment (Valutazione dei Rischi): Identify hazards, evaluate risks, and contribute to the creation and regular updating of the mandatory Documento di Valutazione dei Rischi (DVR).
  • Compliance & Implementation: Stay up-to-date with legislation (including Legislative Decree 81/2008 and CEI 11/27) and implement prevention measures, safe work practices, and the use of Personal/Collective Protective Equipment (PPE/CPE).
  • Coordination & Site Safety: Coordinate H&S activities with all departments and external contractors. This includes managing the Safety Operations Plan (POS - Piano Operativo di Sicurezza), verifying suitability with the PSC (Piano di Sicurezza e Coordinamento), and authorizing entry for SMA employees and service providers to construction sites.
  • Training & Communication: Develop and deliver mandatory training programs to employees, promote a safe culture, and consult regularly with the RLS (Rappresentante dei Lavoratori per la Sicurezza).
  • Incident Management: Investigate workplace accidents and near misses to determine root causes and maintain records of all incidents and analyses.
  • Regulatory Interaction: Cooperate and interact with local health authorities and national inspectorate during inspections or investigations.
What You Bring to SMA Italia
  • Experience: 5+ years of relevant professional experience in a technical environment.
  • Expert Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Italian health and safety legislation (Legislative Decree 81/2008 and CEI 11/27).
  • Skills: Exceptional organizational, multitasking, and analytical skills. Proven ability to work independently, taking initiative and managing tasks proactively, while also being a collaborative team member.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Language: Required English proficiency is B1. Knowledge of 1 other EU language is preferred.
