A leading energy storage company based in Italy is seeking an Engineering Director to lead their global Engineering function. The successful candidate will manage approximately 30 professionals and ensure the coherence, quality, and efficiency of all engineering outputs. You will need significant experience in complex industrial plants, strong leadership skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with executive stakeholders. This role requires fluency in both English and Italian along with the willingness to work on-site in Milan and travel internationally.

The simplicity of the process as well as the use of readily available off‑the‑shelf equipment opens the way for Energy Dome to quickly become an important player in the energy storage market.

Our organization, made up of bright young engineers and professionals from all over the world, is constantly growing and we are seeking an Engineering Director to lead our global Engineering function and drive the execution and continuous evolution of our technology.

Role Overview

The Engineering Director will lead all engineering disciplines within Energy Dome—approximately 30 professionals including Process Engineering, Mechanical & Equipment, Electrical Engineering, Automation & Controls, Piping & Layout, and Drafting.

This is a strategic, managerial, and highly cross‑functional leadership role with global impact. The Engineering Director will ensure the coherence, quality, and efficiency of all engineering outputs, acting as the primary liaison between Engineering, Operations, Project Delivery, Product / Technology, Supply Chain, and the Executive Leadership Team.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in complex industrial plants or the energy sector, deep familiarity with EPC / EPCM project environments, and proven experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams in fast‑growth or highly innovative contexts.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Organizational Management
  • Provide strategic leadership to all engineering disciplines (Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Piping & Layout, Drafting), managing a team of ~30 professionals and growing the function according to company needs.
  • Define the Engineering organization’s vision, structure, processes, and priorities in alignment with company strategy.
  • Create a high‑performing, collaborative culture grounded in clarity, accountability, technical excellence, and safety.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop team leads and senior engineers to ensure long‑term talent growth and succession readiness.
Engineering Governance & Delivery
  • Oversee the end‑to‑end engineering workflow for all projects globally, ensuring timely, high‑quality, and cost‑effective engineering packages.
  • Establish and maintain engineering standards, methodologies, and quality control processes across all disciplines.
  • Ensure alignment between engineering deliverables, product specifications, system requirements, and project execution needs.
  • Guarantee strong interface management across engineering disciplines to maintain design integrity and ensure seamless integration.
Cross‑Functional Coordination & Executive Liaison
  • Act as the primary engineering counterpart to the first line (C‑suite and senior executives), providing clear, structured updates, risk assessments, and recommendations.
  • Coordinate closely with Operations, Project Management, Procurement, HSE, and Product / Technology to ensure cross‑functional alignment.
  • Translate strategic business objectives into actionable engineering plans and resource allocation.
  • Support business development and proposal teams with technical expertise during bid preparation, client engagements, and partner discussions.
Global Project Support & EPC Logic
  • Lead engineering support for global EPC / EPCM partners, ensuring clear technical direction and rigorous design review.
  • Guarantee compliance with engineering standards, codes, and regulations across all geographies where Energy Dome operates.
  • Contribute to project risk analysis, constructability reviews, and value engineering activities.
  • Support factory acceptance tests, commissioning activities, and field engineering supervision as required.
Innovation, Continuous Improvement & Technology Evolution
  • Promote continuous improvement, digital tools adoption, and engineering automation to increase efficiency and scalability.
  • Collaborate with R&D / Product teams to industrialize new components, systems, and processes.
  • Ensure feedback from field operations is systematically integrated into engineering standards and product updates.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Energy, or similar).
  • Significant leadership experience (8+ years) in Engineering Management roles within EPC / EPCM, power generation, energy storage, renewables, industrial plants, oil & gas, or similar complex engineering environments.
  • Proven track record in managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and delivering full‑lifecycle engineering packages for complex plants or industrial systems.
  • Strong understanding of EPC workflows, project execution methodologies, engineering governance, and interface management.
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a bridge between technical teams and executive stakeholders.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent in English and Italian.
  • Availability to work in Milan's office, on‑site, full‑time.
  • Availability for international travel.
