Overview

AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, supporting all AWS data centers and servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems and are looking for talented people who want to help.

Key Responsibilities
  • Be an energetic self-starter provided overall direction of the facility.
  • Ensure all work is scheduled and performed to meet goals.
  • Maintain strong mechanical and electrical background and create working relationships with internal and external groups.
  • Operate independently with limited direct management; act as escalation point for all facilities-related issues.
  • Oversee operation and management of routine and emergency services on critical systems such as switch gear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring systems, etc.
  • Drive projects with moderate complexity and perform root‑cause analysis of equipment failures.
  • Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and work with Facility Manager to set team culture.
  • Responsible for drills and improvement of team / individual areas.
  • Create and deploy compliance for new standard practices for technicians and vendor support teams.
  • Establish building performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports on all aspects of critical facility operations and maintenance.
  • Communicate complex technical information to a non-technician audience.
  • Assist in design and build‑out of new facilities.
  • Coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, and efficiency with IT managers and business leaders.
  • Respond to out‑of-hours emergency calls – second level escalation point for Data Center facilities related issues / failures.
  • Work outside normal business hours for routine maintenance as required.
  • Possibly travel and perform physical tasks such as walking on uneven terrain, lifting up to 39 lbs independently and up to 40+ lbs with a group, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of electrical or mechanical experience.
  • 3+ years of data center or mission critical facilities experience.
  • Technical training or degree in a relevant field (e.g., electrical, mechanical).
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4+ years of data center engineering experience.
  • Associate’s degree or above, or Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience leading and managing a team.
  • Experience in electrical, mechanical, or controls field.
Location & Salary

USA, OR, Hermiston - 96,000.00 - 166,300.00 USD annually.
