A global engineering company is seeking a BID Engineer in Suisio, Italy. The role involves designing solutions for air cooler requirements and supporting sales with complex quotations. Competenze

About the job…

In this role, the BID Engineer will be serving customers to identify needs and designing solutions to meet air cooler requirements. Providing direct support to customers, including complex quotations and supporting remaining sales team in new sales opportunities.

This position will be located in Suisio, Italy.

Responsibilities
  • Receives inquiries from potential and current customers, reviewing relevant inquiry documents and specifications. Understand customer drivers to make the right proposals. Attend meetings with customers and consultants, when required.
  • Uses Alfa Laval proprietary software and industry standard software to size and price air coolers to meet the specific needs of potential customers.
  • Optimizes designs through knowledge of heat transfer and fluid dynamics.
  • Provides written proposals that accurately describe the coolers and comments resulting from spec review. Ensure competitive, accurate and timely formulation of quotation documents, in coordination with relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Proactive risk assessment. Participate in Project Sales Plan (PSP) review, when required. Review of customer contract. Identify, understand and coordinate potential risks happening on the execution phase and endeavor to eliminate or mitigate them in bid stage.
  • Assist sales by responding to technical inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Use the CRM tool and other tools in a consistent and qualitative way, to support the sales process and decisions.
  • Works with customers to educate and develop their staff to be more knowledgeable about the product.
  • Assists Manager with other tasks as needed.
  • Identify areas for improvement to increase sales efficiency and competitiveness. Actively consulting Customer, Sales and Operations colleagues, also via lesson learned.
  • Support and interact with sales companies globally.
  • Support improvements in bid process.
  • Drive development of tools, templates for bids.
  • Follows all safety policies and company-wide safety requirements; encourages action assuring safe behavior; confronts unsafe behavior and conditions proactively and positively.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures.
  • Conducts themselves in a considerate, professional, cooperative, and helpful manner toward fellow employees, customers, vendors, and visitors.
What you know
  • Engineering degree in Mechanical or Chemical preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the field of quotation preparation, project management or application engineer.
  • Thorough knowledge of fluids and heat transfer.
  • 1 yrs. experience working with heat exchangers or pressure vessels.
  • Detailed-oriented with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to speak with coworkers and customers on a regular basis.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and operations.
  • Knowledge of API, ASME, PED, and other pressure vessel codes a plus.
  • Experience with engineering calculation software.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite.
  • Collaborative, solution-oriented approach with strong oral and written communication skills.
