An international network of organizations focused on climate and ecological justice is seeking an Asia-Pacific Programs Coordinator. This full-time role involves implementing advocacy campaigns, mobilizing grassroots actors, and managing social media channels. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and experience in advocacy, demonstrating strong communication and project management skills. The position is remote and offers a collaborative work environment.

About LSM

About this position

The Asia-Pacific Programs Coordinator translates regional strategy into concrete advocacy outcomes by mobilizing people, narratives, and collective action. The role strengthens the Laudato Si’ Movement in the Asia Pacific region through advocacy campaigns, movement building, and engagement of Catholic communities. The Coordinator ensures that campaigns are executed effectively, grassroots and grasstops actors are mobilized, and regional activities, including storytelling, social media, and events, amplify impact and contribute to the movement’s advocacy goals.

Key Responsibilities
Advocacy & Campaign Implementation
  • Implement regional advocacy campaigns and actions in line with priorities set and strategies developed by the Regional Director
  • Translate advocacy strategies into concrete actions, mobilizations, and campaign moments across the region.
  • Coordinate advocacy actions, statements, delegations, and public campaign moments to ensure coherence, timing, and impact.
  • Mobilize grassroots and grasstops actors for time-bound advocacy opportunities.
  • Feed real-time insights, field intelligence, and learning back into regional strategy and planning.
Movement Building & Mobilization
  • Strengthen participation and engagement of Laudato Si’ Animators, members, and Catholic communities in advocacy campaigns.
  • Organize and support regional and sub-regional gatherings that build alignment, skills, and readiness for advocacy action.
  • Help establish and sustain regional coordination spaces (e.g., WhatsApp groups, online forums) to support ongoing mobilization and peer learning.
  • Identify animators and members with leadership potential for advocacy roles and support their engagement in campaigns and actions.
Narrative, Storytelling & Social Media
  • Curate and share advocacy- and movement-focused stories from the region, amplifying grassroots voices and lived experiences.
  • Manage regional social media channels to support advocacy messaging, mobilization, and visibility of regional actions.
  • Contribute content to regional newsletters and campaign communications, in coordination with global communications guidelines.
  • Support narrative framing that links faith, justice, and climate action to concrete advocacy asks.
Regional Events & Action Coordination
  • Plan and coordinate regional and sub-regional events, training, and mobilization activities aligned with advocacy goals.
  • Oversee event logistics, communications, and participant engagement to ensure meaningful participation and follow-through.
  • Ensure events contribute to advocacy outcomes through clear calls to action and post-event mobilization.
Coordination, Learning & Reporting
  • Track mobilization, participation, and advocacy outputs in line with LSM’s Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) framework.
  • Document lessons learned and emerging practices to strengthen future advocacy and movement-building efforts.

Skills and Characteristics
Essential
  • Bachelor’s degree in Developmental Studies, Communications, Journalism, Social Work, Theology, Religious Education, or any other related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in advocacy, campaigning, or movement mobilization, preferably in faith-based, climate, or environmental contexts.
  • Experience mobilizing volunteers or community-based actors for collective action.
  • Deep knowledge of Catholic Social Teaching and Integral Ecology.
  • Knowledge of Advocacy and Campaigning.
  • Project Management skills.
  • Endorses and embodies LSM values and the Laudato Si’ paradigm in behavior and words; comfortable supporting and working in a faith-based environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including storytelling and digital communications.
  • Ability to work across cultures and countries in the Asia Pacific region, and cultural sensitivity
  • Cultivate professional relations and networks.
  • Proven capacity to deliver results within specific timeframes. Ability to rank tasks by urgency and importance to ensure high-value projects stay on schedule.
  • Actively contributing to collective goals and supporting others’ success to build trust and respect.
  • Identify obstacles, analyze complex situations, and implement logical solutions.

Languages: English and any Asian language are required.
