Area Sales Manager at Jotun Performance Coatings
Promote and sell Performance Coatings products to new and existing customers in the assigned area by developing strategic partnerships and strong relationships, liaising with the client market and responding to sales and technical enquiries, implementing Jotun customer management tools, methods and guidelines. Achieve budgeted local market position, sales, gross margin, DSO and customer satisfaction targets while positioning Jotun as a preferred supplier of high‑quality products, solutions and services.
Responsibilities
- Business development within the segment and geographical area by performing market visits, defining local focus customers and agreeing to specific customer strategies with the line manager, managing key accounts, tracking new projects and influencing specifications to achieve targeted growth.
- Using Jotun tools, establish and implement a robust framework for prioritizing and developing Key Accounts/Customers with dynamic metrics and KPIs, and follow up on active plans to support Jotun’s long‑term strategy and profitability.
- Build new opportunities by analysing the market, planning visits to potential customers, and providing swift responses on quotations and inquiries to secure growth and increase market share.
- Gather customer needs, market trends and competitive information; analyze market dynamics to formulate a feasible business strategy that positions Jotun as a preferred supplier and secures profitable relationships.
- Follow up closely on Key Projects, including cross‑border and cross‑functional customers, ensuring product usage, progress tracking, stakeholder engagement, cost efficiency and performance monitoring.
- Maintain customer relationships through regular visits, responding to enquiries and providing product selection advice to achieve sales budget.
- Monitor customers on proper pricing and payment to reduce Days of Sales Outstanding and meet targeted gross margin.
- Co‑ordinate with internal departments (Customer Service, Marketing, Production) to provide high‑quality service and share customer information, leads and opportunities.
- Stay updated on marine business, maritime regulatory landscape and international scenarios to present relevant proposals focused on customers’ specific needs.
Experience and Skills
- Experience working in the marine business.
- Good self‑organizing and self‑planning ability.
- Ability to understand customer needs and market developments and respond appropriately.
- Positive and enthusiastic approach, even in challenging circumstances.
- Italian and proficient English (spoken and written) is mandatory.
