A leading automotive brand in Italy is seeking a Lead Exterior Designer to develop new automotive trends and manage design projects. The ideal candidate has over 10 years of experience in the automotive sector, including 5 years as a senior designer. The role requires strong creative thinking, detail design abilities, and proficiency in design software. The candidate will work in an intercultural team and is expected to present concepts effectively. A strong command of English and good team-working skills are essential.

Lead Exterior Designer

We are currently seeking a Lead Exterior Designer who will join Alfa Romeo.

We are looking for a profile who is really committed and shares the values of the Brand, giving his or her best to support Alfa Romeo. Creative and think out of schemes approach, able to deal with the necessity of being catchy and appealing, to develop new automotive trends through the use of both hand-sketches and 3D digital tools according to the Brand necessities. Will work in an intercultural team, which means will have to own good relational skills, and most of all must be prepared with deal with the challenges presented by cultural difference and cooperate with the colleagues in a proficient way.

The Profile

• At least 10 years of experience in an OEM; 5 years at least as senior designer having brought production cars in the market and/or designed significant Concept Cars.
• Complete knowledge of the design process from initial sketch until industrialization.
• The candidate must have experience in production and must have worked and lead projects strictly in narrow collaboration with engineering, communications and marketing departments.
• Highly skilled in detail design and graphics.
• Ability to present 2D and 3D concepts using a wide variety of techniques, including manual/digital sketching, ALIAS, Photoshop, VRED and Blender, PPT presentation, Illustrator.
• Previous experience in clay modeling follow-up.
• A creative mind able to keep ideas catchy, competitive and attractive, which requires a great propension to stay updated about stylistic and functional needs of the automotive sector and draw parallelism with other design disciplines.
• Ability to direct and focus on multiple projects. Being able to drive his project autonomously as well as creatively coach less experienced designers.
• The profile will work in an intercultural team, so good team-working and communications skills, as a good English knowledge are considered fundamental.
