Your role

The Senior Social Media Video Producer leads the creation of high-impact video content that drives audience growth, engagement, and brand consideration across The Times and Sunday Times’ social media channels. This role combines hands‑on production with strategic oversight, mentoring other producers, and shaping platform‑specific video strategies aligned with editorial and business goals. This role reports to the head of social strategy (editorial).

Day to day you will
  • Lead the production of high‑quality, platform‑optimised social media video, from ideation to execution.
  • Develop and implement innovative video formats to expand reach, engagement, and audience acquisition.
  • Collaborate with social media editors, desks around the newsroom, and commercial stakeholders to maximise content impact.
  • Mentor and support video producers, fostering creativity, experimentation, and professional growth.
  • Analyse performance data to evaluate success, optimise workflows, and inform content strategy.
  • Ensure consistency of brand identity, editorial standards, and storytelling quality across all video content.
  • Experiment with new formats, trends, and tools to keep social video output fresh, competitive, and engaging.
  • Contribute to planning and execution of social campaigns that support wider editorial and business objectives.
What we’re looking for from you
  • Extensive experience producing social media video content for major publications or brands, with a track record of audience growth and engagement.
  • Strong editorial judgement and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex topics into compelling short‑form video.
  • Advanced technical skills in video editing, motion graphics, and social‑first production techniques.
  • Data‑driven mindset with experience using analytics to inform creative decisions and optimise performance.
  • Leadership and mentoring experience, guiding junior video producers and fostering a collaborative team culture.
  • Deep understanding of platform trends, algorithms, and best practices across multiple social channels.
  • Ability to work effectively with editorial, marketing, and commercial teams to meet shared objectives.
  • Experience leading innovative social‑first campaigns or initiatives that have driven measurable growth (preferred).
  • Advanced motion graphics skills (preferred).
