At South West Water we believe that the strongest businesses are built on solid, stable foundations - with a vision and a culture that gives them the freedom to change, improve and innovate.

We're proud to be responsible for providing reliable, efficient and high-quality drinking water and wastewater services for the beautiful South West area.

And we have huge ambitions.

Not only are we committed to reaching net-zero by 2030, but we've also partnered with wildlife charities, National Parks and local partners to help ensure a better future for generations to come.

So, if you want to be part of a diverse team where opportunities flow and fresh ideas are welcomed, #JustAddWater.

We currently have an exciting opportunity available for an OT (Operational Technology) Maintenance Manager to join our team based in Exeter with travel around Devon. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a salary of £44,028 - £53,145 per annum plus job need car, excellent benefits, and development opportunities within our Operational Technology function.

About the role:

As our OT Maintenance Manager you will be a highly capable engineer and manager to leading one of three ICA (Instrument, Control and Automation) teams based in Exeter with travel around the Devon region.

Your role is to lead a team of Technicians ensuring the availability, serviceability, performance, and security of operationally critical OT/ICA assets. With demonstrable experience in managing ICA technology, you will use data, strategic awareness and experience to steer preventative maintenance and fault resolution activities, working alongside operational colleagues, to ensure a 24 x 7 x 365 service for our customers. You will be supported by an OT Planner, assisting with the planning and scheduling of work on ICA assets and systems. You will maintain a knowledge and skill level appropriate to this specialist area and participate in an out of hours standby roster.

What you'll be doing:

    • Establish relationships with operational management in drinking water and wastewater functions to understand their objectives, technology deficiencies and site criticality to ensure alignment on delivery priorities.
    • Ensure OT/ICA assets are maintained and operated to the correct standards, improving process compliance.
    • Manage requests for delivery, incident, problem, and change, using established processes.
    • Ensure Technician workload is managed by providing support to the OT Planner, using technical knowledge and operational relationships to prioritise work baskets and reactive maintenance.
    • Develop and maintain planned maintenance routines to ensure serviceability and resilience of instrumentation and control system assets.
    • Provide timely response to operational issues, performing onsite analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex problems. Ensuring a reactive maintenance capability to respond to incidents 24 x 7 x 365 and enforce adherence to established standards and change governance.
    • Responsible for providing technical leadership and advice to your team, colleagues and other stakeholders, as well as driving maintenance and efficiency optimisation.
    • Support team members through 1:1 and appraisal processes to ensure objectives are met, personal development is achieved, and recognition is gained.

What we are looking for:

    • Minimum 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including Mathematics, English and a Science subject (or equivalent).
    • Full UK Driving Licence
    • Relevant industrial control apprenticeship, qualifications, or training
    • ONC/HNC in relevant discipline.
    • Compliant with current IEE Regs.
    • Experience of process control and electrical systems, working with PLCs including management and programming, understanding communication protocols and knowledge in calibration and maintenance of front-line instrumentation.
    • Excellent IT skills and a technical bias
    • Good communication, interpersonal and organisation skills.
    • The ability to lead and develop.

What's in it for you:

We know that the support and commitment of our staff is key to our success so you will receive the opportunity for ongoing support and development for a long-term career with us. We're one of the largest companies in the South West and are proud to have been awarded Investors in People recognition.

In return, we offer an excellent range of benefits including:

    • 26 days' holiday allowance plus bank holidays rising to 30 days with service milestones
    • Job Need Car
    • Discretionary Annual Bonus
    • Competitive Contributory Pension
