A children's care organization in Greater London seeks a dedicated professional to support child-centered practices and care planning. You will build trusting relationships with children, implement and monitor care plans, and collaborate with social workers and health professionals. Vigilance in safeguarding is essential. Ideal candidates will possess experience in child care and a commitment to promoting emotional wellbeing, life skills, and independence for children. This role ensures a nurturing environment and involves ongoing professional development.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Child-Centred Practice
Build a positive, trusting relationship with your key child(ren), promoting safety, emotional wellbeing, and stability.
Ensure the child’s voice is heard and reflected in their care planning and daily life.
Advocate for their rights and ensure decisions are made in their best interests.
2. Care Planning & Reviews
Take lead responsibility for the implementation and monitoring of the child’s Placement Plan.
Attend and contribute to Looked After Child (LAC) reviews, PEPs, and other planning meetings.
Work with the wider team to ensure SMART goals are set and reviewed regularly.
Keep accurate, timely records and ensure all reports (keywork sessions, progress updates, risk assessments) are completed.
3. Keywork Sessions
Deliver regular, structured keywork sessions focused on emotional support, behaviour, education, health, and independence.
Use creative, age-appropriate tools to explore feelings, build resilience, and promote progress.
Evaluate and adapt sessions based on the child’s needs and responses.
4. Safeguarding & Risk Management
Remain vigilant and responsive to safeguarding risks, reporting any concerns in line with policies.
Support the Registered Manager in risk assessments and positive behaviour support plans for your key child.
Help ensure a safe, therapeutic, and nurturing environment in accordance with Reg 12 (Protection of Children).
5. Multi-Agency Working
Work in partnership with social workers, schools, health professionals, therapists, and families.
Ensure all key communications are shared and documented appropriately.
Act as the main point of contact for professionals regarding your key child.
6. Independence & Life Skills
Support your key child to develop practical and emotional skills for adulthood, tailored to their age and ability.
Encourage participation in household tasks, budgeting, cooking, and community engagement.
Contribute to pathway planning and transitional support where appropriate.
7. Record Keeping & Administration
Maintain detailed, clear, and professional records on the child’s file (daily logs, MAR sheets, incident forms, keywork notes).
Ensure information is accurate and contributes to effective care planning and regulatory compliance.
