You will play a key role in the successful delivery of major multidisciplinary development projects.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Leading on the coordination and delivery of soil and land use assessments as part of Environmental Impact Assessments of a wide range of projects
  • Coordinating and leading soil and Agricultural Land Classification surveys
  • Undertaking your own work to an excellent standard, and reviewing the work of others
  • Working in partnership with other members of the Soils Team as well as the Impact Assessment Team and members of related discipline teams across the UK
  • Proactively managing selected projects or components of projects, taking responsibility for resource allocation, managing subcontractors and quality assurance
  • Lead and support tender proposal/ bids - working as part of a project winning team
  • Providing soils and land use advice and support to clients, project managers and colleagues
  • Engaging with consultees and stakeholders
  • Developing outstanding reports - an ability to summarise and explain outcomes to non-technical audiences will be critical for this
  • Managing projects, overseeing our performance on technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experienced soil consultant/scientist with experience of Environmental Impact Assessment, preferably within a consultancy environment or with experience of multi-disciplinary working and broad sector experience.
  • Experience of soil surveying, ideally including knowledge and experience of the Agricultural Land Classification system.
  • Member of the British Society of Soil Science and Chartered/working towards chartership with an accredited Institution.
  • Good knowledge of Environmental Impact Assessment and the planning process in relation to soils and land use
  • Strong report writing, verbal and presentation skills with experience in reviewing the work of others to ensure quality
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary working, with good project management and technical skills
  • Experience in consulting and negotiating with planning authorities, regulators and stakeholders
  • Commercial expertise, including forecasting, project management and quality assurance
  • A valid UK driving license
  • Desired: Knowledge and application experience of carbon accounting in relation to soils and land use
