Are you an 18th Edition-qualified electrician with experience in heavy industry? We're looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join a global engineering business on a heavy manufacturing site in the Leicestershire area, where your technical skills and practical know-how are valued. This is a Monday to Friday role, with shifts running from 6:00am to 2:30pm Monday to Thursday, and 6:00am to 11:00am on Fridays, offering a great work-life balance.
You'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of equipment—including overhead cranes, millers, borers, and plasma machines—to help keep operations running safely and efficiently. You'll be part of a supportive team in an inclusive environment that values input and encourages continuous improvement.
The role offers a salary of circa £34,200, with opportunities for overtime and additional call-out payments as part of a rota system.
Responsibilities of this Maintenance Engineer role:
- Ensure the smooth running and maintenance of all manufacturing and facility equipment.
- Routine / planned maintenance and repair of all on-site equipment.
- Actively minimise plant and equipment downtime.
- Contribute to continuous improvements on machines and processes.
- Create and manage the preventative maintenance program for the repair and modification of machines.
- Methodically troubleshoot equipment.
- Liaise on an ongoing basis with Supervisors, Managers, and team members.
- Be available on a call-out basis to provide maintenance and breakdown cover over a 24-hour period.
- Ensure compliance with all site Rules, Regulations, Policies & Procedures.
- Maintain compliance with all Health and Safety Regulations and Standards.
Qualifications needed for this Maintenance Engineer role:
- Level 3 Engineering Qualification or Vocational Time Served Qualification.
- 18th edition electrical qualification.
- Time served in an industrial maintenance environment.
- An understanding of engineering drawings and principles.
- Working knowledge of AC, DC, and 3-phase electrical systems.
- Strong communication skills.
- Portable appliance testing.
- Electrical inspection and testing.
- A Full Driving License.
- IPAF and FLT certifications would be preferable but can be provided through training.
